On the auspicious occasion of September 12th, a handover ceremony was held at the esteemed Quang Nam Museum in the beautiful province of Quang Nam. During this solemn ceremony, two of the missing details of the national treasure known as the Đồng Dương Tara Statue were returned to their rightful place at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture. The presence of the Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, Tran Chi Cuong, added to the grandeur of this event.

The Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, Ha Vy, recently shared that a ceremony was held to celebrate the “return” of two precious details, the snail and lotus, that were initially located next to the statue of Đồng Dương Tara. This ceremony reflected the strong friendship and collaborative efforts of the people of Quang Nam and Da Nang to preserve their cultural heritage and promote sustainable development in both localities.
The Department of Culture and Sports has collaborated with the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture to safeguard and showcase the value of two precious national treasures. These artifacts will soon arrive, and the museum has developed a comprehensive plan to protect and promote them. The two details will be displayed and introduced to the public as part of the plan. The museum will continue to implement a strategy to highlight further the historical significance of the Đồng Dương Tara Statue. This will benefit researchers and enhance the cultural experience of visitors to this beautiful region.
The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture is proud to hold six national treasures, one of which is the statue of Tara, Đồng Dương. This treasure was discovered by Đồng Dương officials and villagers in Binh Dinh commune, now known as Binh Dinh Bac Commune People’s Committee in Thang Binh district. Since its placement in the Cham Museum in 1978, this treasure has been meticulously preserved to maintain its original beauty and historical significance. However, during the excavation process, the statue was unfortunately damaged and broken into two parts: the lotus flower and the snail. These two parts have been carefully safeguarded by the local people of Đồng Dương village for the past 45 years as valuable cultural relics.
