Friday morning, March 22, 2024, at Bien Dong Park, Son Tra District, City. In Da Nang, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Da Nang International Marathon takes place, kicking off the 11th season.
The Danang International Marathon is one of Vietnam’s most prestigious running events, with a history spanning over a decade. In 2024, the marathon celebrate its 11th season, and the race route promises to take athletes on a thrilling journey along the breathtaking coastline of Da Nang. Runners can experience the city’s iconic landmarks, including the Dragon Bridge, Han River Bridge, Son Tra Peninsula, and Marble Mountain. The competition offers participants more relaxed and comfortable weather conditions in March. In collaboration with Pulse Active company and other relevant units, the Da Nang City Department of Culture and Sports is responsible for organizing this world-class event, ensuring a memorable and successful experience for all involved.

At the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi An, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City, confidently announced that this year’s race will provide calm and pleasant weather for the athletes, ensuring a better experience. This decision is part of a strategic plan to welcome more athletes in future tournaments.
The new season will welcome over 9,000 participating athletes, including approximately 1,800 international athletes representing 60 countries and territories, accounting for 19% of the total participants. This marks a whopping 46% increase in international athletes compared to 2023, demonstrating the event’s growing popularity.
Moreover, a wide range of activities will take place from today until Saturday evening, including athletes’ kit collection. The Ronny Dash 1.5km children’s run involves 700 children and parents on Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2024, in Da Nang. Everyone, including athletes, friends, relatives, and locals, are welcome to attend.

With the development trend of tourism and sports activities, the event brings many tourism benefits to the coastal city by attracting not only domestic and international athletes to participate with their relatives and friends.
The athletes participating in the competition also visit tourists in Da Nang.
The marathon, 21km, 10km, and 5km distances start at different times. The marathon will begin first at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 24. The other distances will start at 4:30 a.m., 5:20 a.m., and 7:00 a.m.
