The latest event to be confirmed for the Central Vietnam city is the AccorHotels Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship from September 11-17.

That will follow on from a week-long golfing festival that will be highlighted by:

  • The inaugural Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) Danang Conference at the Sheraton Grand Hotel (August 29-31).
  • BRG Open Golf Championship at BRG Da Nang Golf Resort on the Asian Development Tour (August 31 to September 2).

Pre-pandemic, the AccorHotels Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship was an eagerly anticipated fixture in the annual golf calendar in Asia.

Organisers said it’s returning bigger and better than when it was staged in 2019.

This year’s event showcases BRG Da Nang Golf Resort, Ba Na Hills, and Hoiana Shores: three of the world-class clubs that have made Vietnam’s central coastline one of the most coveted places for play in world golf. Golfers will also enjoy beachside accommodation at the Pullman Danang Beach Resort: the main partner hotel for the event.

Two participating courses – the Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed links at Hoiana Shores and the American-style Nicklaus Design layout at BRG Da Nang Golf Resort – mark debuts in the tournament line-up, offering fresh exposure to a destination only set to grow in stature.

“With over 100 golfers from around the world attending this event, we could not be happier to host this prestigious event, three years after hosting the last Vietnam World Masters. The two new courses in our event line-up are going to be talked about for weeks to come,” said Mark Siegel, Managing Director of Golfasian, a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

Indeed, the buzz about Vietnam’s golf courses has grown almost as loud as the motorbike horns that soundtrack daily life in major cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Danang itself in recent years.

Big-name architects like Sir Nick FaldoJack NicklausGreg Norman and Trent Jones Jr have made their mark with a string of acclaimed layouts the length and breadth of the Southeast Asian country.

For golfers, the evolving nature of the course scene is one of Danang’s s most compelling drawcards.

“Many golfers won’t have been in Central Vietnam since 2019. It already had several championship courses at that time,” said Peter McCarthy, Managing Director of Go Golfing.

“Now, with the addition of Hoiana Shores and the Nicklaus course at BRG Da Nang Golf Resort, there’s even more,” he added.
