Promote attracting M.I.C.E. visitors to Da Nang

Da Nang continues to launch a campaign to attract M.I.C.E. (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourists in 2024. 

The previous MICE Tourist Support Campaign was a resounding success, attracting 163 delegations and 45,344 domestic and international tourists to Da Nang in 2023. This remarkable achievement contributed to the recovery of the tourism industry and solidified Da Nang’s position as a leading destination for MICE tourism in Southeast Asia.

In 2024, the Department of Tourism, in close collaboration with MICE businesses, advised the People’s Committee of Da Nang City to implement a promotion campaign for domestic and international MICE delegations. This comprehensive Campaign includes a warm welcome, local souvenirs, media support, and expert consultation on organizing MICE events. Additionally, it will support advanced delegations and travel firms that bring visitors to Da Nang, demonstrating our commitment to our valued partners.

In 2024, for delegations with more than 500 people, the city will expand the content of supporting advance groups for surveying and organizing events once per group (1 group must be at most three people and spend three days in Da Nang city). The size of supported MICE delegations ranges from 50 to 199; 200 to 349; 350 to 499, and more than 500, including special ones considered by the Da Nang Department of Tourism (D.D.T.).

In the first four months of 2024, the D.D.T. welcomed 42 domestic and international M.I.C.E. delegations with a total of about 12,600 visitors. These included 13 domestic and 29 international delegations from markets such as India, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia, as well as multinational delegations. Large-scale, prominent MICE delegations were from the Hiphop festival – RF Summer Jam 2024, Corteva Agriscience L.L.C., JAC MICE, Syngenta FPT, British pharmaceutical company, Indian C.R.E.D.A.I., Pharmaceutical Philippines Inc, J.K. Cement Limited India, Buddhist group, and the Gastroenterology Association.

The D.D.T. has increased the promotion of MICE tourism and the MICE Tourist promotion campaign to domestic and international travel and events companies at tourism fairs and events such as the S.A.T.T.E. India Fair, Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, and V.I.T.M. Hanoi Fair. Representatives of the D.D.T. directly worked with the Vietnam MICE Club and large MICE businesses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to update the MICE tourism promotion campaign of Da Nang in 2024.

Last April, Ariyana Convention Central Da Nang representatives participated in the Meetings Show Asia Pacific under the theme “Asia Pacific’s Role in Recasting the Global MICE Sector.” This event strengthened Da Nang’s position as a leading international meeting and conference location. The city’s increasingly important role in the MICE industry attracted attention and was highly appreciated by global investors and partners.

Mr. Prabhakar S. Singh, the Director of Sales and Marketing of Ariyana Convention Central Da Nang, said that the special attention given to Da Nang as a MICE destination at the exhibition is clear evidence of the city’s potential and the effectiveness of the strategies that businesses have deployed to promote their MICE capabilities to the world.

With the existing advantages of MICE tourism, close coordination between the government and businesses, and the activation of the MICE tourism promotion program, Da Nang expects to attract MICE tourist groups in the coming time.
