At the World Travel Awards 2026 ceremony for Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean, held in the Maldives on 27 September, Vietnam was recognised across a range of tourism categories. Da Nang stood out through awards for its theme parks, cable car, resorts and hotels, reflecting the breadth of experiences the destination offers.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards are often described as the “Oscars of the travel industry.” For more than three decades, the annual awards have recognised destinations, organisations and businesses across travel, aviation, hospitality and tourism services. Vietnam’s achievements in 2026 provide a wider backdrop for Da Nang’s results, with the city’s tourism brands earning recognition at both Asian and national levels.

Sun World Ba Na Hills was named Asia’s Leading Theme Park for the seventh consecutive year. It also won Vietnam’s Leading Theme Park 2026.
The Sun World Ba Na Hills cable car received the inaugural Asia’s Leading Cable Car 2026 award. The system, which has set four Guinness World Records, connects the foothills with the summit of Ba Na Hills. This new award recognises the cable car as a visitor experience in its own right.

In the resort category, Hoiana Resort & Golf was named Asia’s Leading Integrated Resort for the third consecutive year, from 2024 to 2026. Hoi An Memories Resort & Spa won Asia’s Leading Cultural Resort 2026, following four consecutive wins as Asia’s Leading Entertainment Resort from 2022 to 2025.
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort received Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort and Vietnam’s Leading Luxury Resort 2026. A villa at the resort also won Asia’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa. Shilla Monogram Danang was named Asia’s Leading Lifestyle Resort 2026, while Four Points by Sheraton Danang received Vietnam’s Leading Beach Hotel 2026.

Da Nang is also among the nominees for Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination 2026, a title the city won in 2016 and 2022.
Together, these awards recognise the quality and diversity of Da Nang’s tourism offerings. The city’s presence across multiple categories further strengthens its profile as a destination in the region.
