Da Nang, September 25, 2026 – The Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the program “Da Nang and Russia–CIS: A Legacy of Partnership, Shaping the Future Together”, with the participation of more than 150 delegates representing travel companies, airlines, accommodation establishments, tourist attractions and destinations, as well as partners involved in developing and promoting the Russian and CIS markets to Da Nang.

The program was held to review and assess the performance of the Russia–CIS market over recent years; discuss market trends, air connectivity, promotion and communications activities; and gather insights and recommendations from the business community to help shape market development strategies for 2027 and the years ahead.

Russia–CIS arrivals surge by 94.2%, emerging as a bright spot in Da Nang’s international visitor market
In the first eight months of 2026, the Russian and CIS markets recorded particularly strong growth, with more than 400,000 visitor arrivals to Da Nang, up 94.2% year-on-year and accounting for approximately 5.8% of the city’s total international arrivals.
Of this figure, Russian arrivals reached nearly 300,000, representing an increase of 151.4% compared with the same period in 2025 and placing Russia seventh among Da Nang’s Top 10 international source markets. Other CIS markets contributed more than 112,000 arrivals, up 20.8%.
The growth of the Russia–CIS market has contributed to diversifying Da Nang’s international visitor base while opening up further opportunities to develop products tailored to this segment, including extended beach holidays, wellness experiences, gastronomy, and cultural experiences across Da Nang and Hoi An.
Strengthening tourism promotion and communications in Russia and CIS markets
Throughout 2026, Da Nang implemented a range of coordinated tourism promotion and communications activities targeting Russia and CIS markets.
In March 2026, Da Nang tourism participated in MITT Moscow 2026, one of the largest international travel trade fairs in Russia and the wider region. Da Nang’s tourism booth was recognized by the organizers among the Top 3 outstanding and impressive booths out of 44 participating exhibitors, helping strengthen the destination’s visibility and creating opportunities for direct engagement with tour operators, airlines and market partners.
Alongside B2B activities, Da Nang launched a destination promotion campaign across the Yandex ecosystem, reaching approximately 17.2 million users in Russia and CIS markets, generating around 63.4 million impressions, 862,700 clicks and 523,000 visits to the Danang Fantasticity website.
During the campaign period, Russia became the largest source of traffic to Danang Fantasticity, accounting for approximately 54–60% of total website visits in May and June 2026. According to data compiled from Yandex, search interest in Da Nang increased by approximately threefold compared with the same period of the previous year following the launch of the campaign.
These results highlight the significant potential for Da Nang to further leverage digital platforms in Russia and CIS markets, while progressively linking destination marketing activities with tourism products, local businesses and measurable conversion into actual bookings.

Partnering with airlines and tour operators to bring more Russia–CIS visitors to Da Nang
Alongside tourism promotion and communications, the city has strengthened cooperation with airlines, travel companies and market partners to restore and expand air connectivity, organize inaugural flight welcome programs, famtrips, presstrips and business networking activities.
During the summer of 2026, air routes from CIS markets to Da Nang operated at a frequency of approximately 16 flights per week, with connections from Astana, Almaty and Tashkent. For the Russian market, charter services connected Da Nang with Moscow, Kazan, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk, Novokuznetsk, Barnaul, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and several other cities.
In April 2026, the city worked with relevant partners to welcome the Astana–Da Nang route, host a famtrip delegation of 220 guests from Kazakhstan and other CIS markets, and organize networking and cooperation programs with CIS partners.
Da Nang also coordinated welcome programs for the flight from Vladivostok on April 16, 2026, and the first flight from Moscow on May 23, 2026. In parallel, the city facilitated famtrip groups from Russia and CIS markets and hosted a Russian presstrip to strengthen first-hand destination experiences and expand media exposure.
The close coordination among government authorities, airlines, travel companies, accommodation providers, tourist attractions and destinations, and media partners has been identified as one of the key factors contributing to the strong growth of the Russia–CIS market in 2026.
