In celebration of World Tourism Day 2026 on September 27, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board is organizing a series of activities and introducing new experiential tourism products under the theme “My Son Green – A Journey through Culture and Nature.”
Connecting heritage values with nature
With a focus on developing green, responsible and environmentally friendly tourism, the program aims to strengthen the connection between the values of My Son World Cultural Heritage, Champa culture, and the area’s special-use forest ecosystem and biodiversity.
Through this series of activities, the Management Board is gradually developing new visitor experiences that diversify tourism products, encourage longer stays at My Son, and raise public awareness of nature conservation alongside heritage preservation.
Three new experiential tourism products
A highlight of the program is the introduction of three new groups of visitor experiences.
“Botanical and Medicinal Plant Garden under the My Son Forest Canopy”
Developed along the visitor route from Tower K to the E–F Tower Group, the experience introduces native plants and medicinal species associated with the daily life and traditions of the Cham people, while also providing information about the special-use forest ecosystem and local biodiversity.
Traditional craft demonstration and hands-on experience space
At the Nha Doi Experience Area, visitors can discover and directly experience a range of traditional crafts, including Cham pottery making, brocade weaving, conical hat making, agarwood crafting, wood carving and stone carving.
The space also introduces the wellness tourism experience “Herbal Foot Soak under the Forest Canopy,” using locally sourced medicinal herbs.
Cham musical instrument exhibition and performance space
At the Lotus Pond – Tower H slope area, visitors can explore Cham artifacts, musical instruments, traditional costumes, photographs and cultural materials. They can also enjoy Cham folk songs and performances featuring the Ghi-nang drum, Paranung drum, Saranai oboe, and traditional Cham dance.
Interactive activities will allow visitors to learn about and try traditional musical instruments, wear Cham costumes, and take part in selected cultural activities alongside folk artisans.
Highlights on September 25
As part of the program, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on September 25, 2026, the launch of the “Medicinal Plant Garden and Herbal Foot Soak Experience Tour” will take place at the Nha Doi Area, outside the My Son temple complex.
The launch program will provide a vibrant space for cultural exchange and introduce the diversity of cultural experiences connected with a journey through My Son, featuring Bai Choi folk singing from the local community and the traditional Tung Tung Da Da dance presented by Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate Tourism Area.
In the afternoon, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, the seminar “Biodiversity Conservation Associated with Sustainable Tourism” will be held at the conference hall of the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board.
The seminar will focus on the current state of forest resources, ecosystems and biodiversity; challenges in conservation; and the sharing of experience and proposed solutions for developing ecotourism in association with nature conservation, contributing to the development of the “My Son Green” destination brand.
“Nature of My Son” Exhibition Week
From September 25 to October 5, 2026, the My Son Ecological Garden will host an exhibition featuring the wildlife and forest flora of My Son.
The exhibition will showcase approximately 200 photographs and materials featuring wildlife, special-use forest vegetation, images captured by camera traps, and the results of forest management and protection efforts in My Son. It will also present selected images highlighting the biodiversity of Da Nang.
Through the exhibition, the program brings the natural values that have long existed within the heritage landscape closer to visitors and the wider public, while spreading the message of nature conservation in connection with ecotourism development.
Towards a green and sustainable destination
“My Son Green – A Journey through Culture and Nature” is not only a series of activities celebrating World Tourism Day 2026, but also a step towards developing new tourism products based on a harmonious relationship between heritage conservation, nature protection, the promotion of community culture and sustainable tourism development.
Through hands-on experiences, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board hopes that visitors will come not only to explore the monuments, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the nature, culture and people of My Son, and become part of the journey to preserve these heritage values for future generations.
In the first eight months of 2026, the Russian and CIS markets recorded remarkable growth, with more than 400,000 visitor arrivals to Da Nang, up 94.2% compared with the same period in 2025 and accounting for approximately 5.8% of the city’s total international arrivals.
