Journal des Français à l’étranger has described Da Nang as a destination with strong potential for the digital nomad community thanks to its strategic location, high quality of life, modern infrastructure, and rapidly developing remote working environment.
The French online newspaper Journal des Français à l’étranger recently published an article titled Comment Da Nang, perle du Vietnam, veut crever l’écran (Da Nang – Vietnam’s Pearl Ready to Shine on the Global Stage), comparing Da Nang to the “Miami of Vietnam” and highlighting the city as an increasingly attractive destination for digital nomads.

Strategic location, natural beauty, and excellent connectivity
According to the article, located just a one-hour flight from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang enjoys a strategic location, 32 kilometers of coastline, diverse natural landscapes, and a well-developed transportation network. These advantages have made the city increasingly appealing not only to international visitors but also to expatriates seeking to live and work in Vietnam.
Speaking to the French publication, Hana Nguyen, founder of a coworking space in Da Nang, said one of the city’s greatest strengths is its international airport, conveniently located close to the city center, making travel across Asia both easy and affordable. She also noted that the city’s relaxed lifestyle and reasonable cost of living are key factors attracting remote workers.

The article also recalled that The New York Times previously included Da Nang in its list of 52 Places to Go, further reinforcing the city’s growing reputation on the global tourism map.
An emerging hub for digital nomads
According to Journal des Français à l’étranger, the growing number of digital nomads and expatriates choosing Da Nang has fueled demand for housing, leading to the development of new real estate projects. Although rental prices have risen, living and food expenses remain highly competitive compared to many other well-known destinations in the region.
Luca, an artificial intelligence (AI) developer from Germany who is currently based in Da Nang, shared that he chose the city for its balance of affordability, peaceful lifestyle, and vibrant international community. In his view, Da Nang is a better long-term option than Bali for people seeking a sustainable remote working destination.

What impressed Luca most was the city’s fast and reliable internet, which fully supports online work and technology development. He also praised Da Nang’s diverse dining scene, pleasant climate, beautiful beaches, and relaxed pace of life, offering an ideal balance between an international environment and authentic local culture.
Embracing the workation trend
The article also highlighted Da Nang Nomad Fest, held annually in March to connect the international freelancer community and attract more remote professionals to experience the city. The event reflects Da Nang’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a welcoming destination for digital nomads.
The recognition from Journal des Français à l’étranger demonstrates that Da Nang is not only known for its beaches, natural beauty, and diverse tourism offerings, but is also steadily establishing itself as an attractive destination for the growing global workation trend—combining work and leisure travel.
