Bringing the essence of Vietnamese culture to one of South Korea’s largest summer festivals, Da Nang made a remarkable impression at the Daegu Chimac Festival 2026, held from 1–5 July 2026 in Daegu. Beyond promoting the city’s tourism appeal to Korean residents and international visitors, the program also created new opportunities for tourism cooperation with partners in Daegu and the southeastern region of Korea, further strengthening connections between Da Nang and Korean localities.

Throughout the five-day festival, the Da Nang booth attracted a steady stream of visitors who enjoyed a variety of cultural experiences, including trying on the Vietnamese ao dai, making traditional woodblock prints, decorating hand fans and conical hats, sampling Vietnamese cuisine, discovering OCOP products, and participating in interactive games. More than 20,000 visitors stopped by the booth, helping showcase Da Nang as a vibrant, welcoming destination rich in cultural identity.

One of the highlights of the program was the destination promotion on the festival’s main stage, where Da Nang was introduced to thousands of festival-goers through an ao dai performance, destination promotional videos, and an interactive tourism quiz. Speaking at the event, Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, highlighted the city’s diverse tourism ecosystem, beautiful beaches, vibrant calendar of international festivals and events, and its role as the gateway to the World Cultural Heritage sites of Central Vietnam. He also introduced Da Nang’s commitment to sustainable green tourism development and its continuously improving tourism services. On this occasion, Da Nang extended a warm invitation to the people of Daegu and Korean visitors to experience the city’s unique coastal charm.

In addition to the festival activities, the delegation from the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a series of working sessions with local organizations in Daegu. The delegation visited and exchanged ideas at the Da Nang Corner located at the Daegu Tourist Information Center, and met with the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) to discuss cooperation in tourism promotion, MICE tourism development, business networking, and expanding visitor exchanges between the two destinations. These activities further implemented the existing cooperation framework between Da Nang and Daegu while strengthening the relationship between the two sister cities.

As part of the working visit, on 3 July 2026 in Busan, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Busan Tourism Organization (BTO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation. Under the agreement, both parties will strengthen collaboration in destination marketing and tourism promotion, exchange market information and destination management experience, share expertise in tourism events, support the promotion and maintenance of direct flights between Da Nang and Busan, and expand business networking and two-way visitor exchanges. The MoU establishes an important foundation for long-term cooperation, aiming to promote sustainable tourism development and enhance connectivity between the two destinations.

The series of activities in Daegu and Busan reaffirmed Da Nang’s commitment to expanding international partnerships, promoting its tourism brand, and strengthening ties with the Korean market. Through destination marketing initiatives, cultural exchange programs, and cooperation with Korean local authorities, tourism organizations, and businesses, Da Nang continues to enhance its image as a modern, welcoming, safe, and culturally rich destination, contributing to increased visitor exchanges and further deepening tourism cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
