Early in the morning of August 6, Manulife Danang International Marathon 2023 represented by Yamaha, successfully took place with 2 new race records in the male & female marathon category on the new race route.
With 9,000 athletes (athletes) participating in the competition, the race excitedly celebrated its 10 year milestone. More than 65% of the participants come from provinces and cities outside of Danang and abroad. The competition also brings together nearly 1,500 foreign runners living in Vietnam and from 50 countries, territories. One of the notable highlights of the 10th race is the new 42km course, which offered the marathon runners to experience the 2 longest and most beautiful coastlines of Danang city.
Starting Line
The competition ended with a new race record in men’s marathon categories. Ethiopian athlete, Takele Ebisa set the new race record at 2:26:11, which is almost 6 minutes faster than the formal record 2:32:16 held by a Japanese athlete. The second prize belongs to Kenyan athlete, Kipsang Charles Kipkorir (2:45:25); The third prize belongs to Vietnamese athlete Tran Duy Quang (2:51:33).
Along with that, in the women’s category, Ethiopian athlete, Birehan Marta Tinsae also set a new record when she finished at 2:58:26. The second and third prizes belong to two athletes Dương Thị Khánh (3:12:48) and Uchino Satomi, a Japanese athlete (3:21:24).

This year’s race offers athletes many exciting experiences on the stop to boost their morale. DJ stations playing music and cheering teams are arranged along the track to create a lively atmosphere, and mobile support groups on the track are also ready to power up when the athletes need it.

The award ceremony was held right after the race to honor athletes with good achievements in the season. 3 athletes with achievements in distances divided into 2 categories male and female will receive honorary medals, along with bonuses and gifts from sponsors and partners. Particularly for athletes who won in the distances will receive a commemorative version made up of medals from previous seasons as a special honor.
