Da Nang is thrilled to announce the organization of a tourism promotion program in the Republic of Korea’s key cities, Seoul (on July 8) and Busan (on July 12). This exciting news coincides with the successful launch of the ‘Enjoy Da Nang Again’ campaign, which has already begun to reignite the interest of Korean tourists in visiting Da Nang.
This endeavor forms part of the city leaders’ strategic investment, which includes infrastructure development and marketing initiatives, and tourism promotion mission to Republic of Korea, which is led by Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, a Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee.
The program aims to introduce and provide updated information on new and distinctive tourism products tailored to the Korean market, such as unique cultural experiences, adventure tours, and luxury accommodations. Notably, it seeks to cultivate opportunities for tourism enterprises in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Thua Thien Hue to expand their outreach and partnerships in the Republic of Korea.
The event scheduled to take place in Seoul on the afternoon of July 8 will be graced by the presence of H.E. Vu Ho, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Korea, and Mr. BAEG Seung Pil, Vice Chairman of the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA). Over 70 esteemed guests are expected to attend, including representatives from airlines, travel agencies, MICE, golf, wedding organizers, influencers (KOLs), and Korean media outlets.
Meanwhile, the program in Busan, set for August 12, is anticipated to host two distinguished figures from the local tourism sector, namely Mr. Lee Jung Sil, Chairman of the Busan Tourism Organization, and Mr. Cha Min Gun, Director of the International Cooperation Division at the Busan Tourism Association. The event will be joined by nearly 50 guests, including representatives from airlines, travel agencies, and MICE and golf organizers.
During the opening address at the Seoul program, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, highlighted the remarkable growth in Korean tourist numbers during the first half of 2024. He emphasized that this growth is a testament to the fondness of Korean tourists for Da Nang, underscoring the destination’s allure through its consistent product and service quality innovations.
Notably, in the first half of 2024, the number of Korean tourists visiting Da Nang amounted to 822,765, representing over 41% of the city’s total international visitors. This figure surpassed the total number of Korean visitors in 2023 (935,000). It accounted for nearly 50% of the peak Korean visitor numbers in 2019, a significant period for Da Nang’s tourism.
Furthermore, at the start of 2024, Da Nang introduced several new offerings to significantly enhance the tourist experience. These include the Bach Dang Walking Street, Nguyen Van Troi Pedestrian Bridge, Da Nang Beach Flowers Street, Danang Downtown entertainment complex, Jetski & Flyboard shows, as well as nightly fireworks art shows. The city also hosted various international-scale events and festivals, including the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, Da Nang Asian Film Festival, Enjoy Danang Festival, Vietnam-Korea Festival, and Asia Development Golf Tournament 2024.
The city remains dedicated to targeting specific market segments, including MICE, golf, wedding, and culinary tourism. During 2024-2025, Da Nang plans to initiate a trial program to attract wedding tourism, offering support and incentives to couples choosing to organize their weddings in the city. These incentives include welcome ceremonies at the airport or hotel, souvenir gifts, entrance tickets to attractions, and other appealing services.
The tourism connection and introduction program in the Republic of Korea features the launch of the Enjoy Da Nang Again campaign, scheduled from July 10 through the end of 2024. This initiative is in response to the fondness of Korean tourists for Da Nang. It is designed to provide special packages and souvenir gifts for Korean visitors returning to Da Nang for the second time since 2020. By offering new and compelling service products and fostering collaboration between Da Nang tourism partners and Korean tourism entities in Seoul and Busan, mainly through the Enjoy Da Nang Again campaign, Da Nang seeks to uphold its appeal among Korean tourists. The city is committed to being seen as a unique travel destination and a welcoming ‘second home’ where visitors can create meaningful and memorable travel experiences.
