DA NANG TOURISM TO BE PROMOTED IN MALAYSIA
The Da Nang Tourism Introduction Program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in collaboration with the Da Nang Department of Tourism and the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Fund, was a resounding success on August 27, 2024. The esteemed event was graced by nearly 100 distinguished guests from the tourism industry, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of Da Nang as a premier tourist destination.
The Da Nang Tourism Introduction Program in Malaysia 2024 aimed to enlighten participants about new events, festivals, tourism products, MICE tourism, golf, beach resorts, and cuisine. Additionally, it provided an invaluable platform for Da Nang tourism businesses to form connections and expand their networks in Malaysia.
A significant highlight of the program was the announcement of the direct Kuala Lumpur – Da Nang flight by Malaysia Airlines, scheduled to commence on September 24, 2024, with a frequency of 7 flights per week. This development is anticipated to elevate the total number of weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang to 28. The direct Kuala Lumpur – Da Nang route by Malaysia Airlines is poised to not only boost Malaysian visitor arrivals to Da Nang but also facilitate connectivity to 170 destinations within Malaysia Airlines’ network, particularly in key markets such as Indonesia, Australia, India, and Europe, thereby presenting immense potential for Da Nang tourism.
In her cordial welcome speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, expressed, “In response to the needs of the Malaysian tourist market, Da Nang has devoted considerable attention to investing in accommodation infrastructure, promoting direct flights, and enhancing tourism products, services, entertainment, and culinary offerings to enrich the visitor experience in Da Nang. The city has introduced special incentives through its MICE policy and organized international golf festivals to appeal to the MICE and Golf market segments.”
During the successful business trip, the city’s delegation also engaged in constructive discussions with Malaysia Airlines to explore avenues for further collaboration. Notably, Da Nang requested the airline’s support in promoting Da Nang tourism across its channels. Both parties agreed to invite famtrip, presstrip, and KOLs to experience Da Nang and facilitate media outreach to Malaysian tourists.
The Da Nang Tourism Introduction Program in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, received generous support from 10 tourism businesses from Da Nang and Central Vietnam, including Sun Group, Vingroup (Vinpearl JSC), Vietnam Travelmart JSC, Viet Pilgrim Co., Ltd, Hoiana Resort & Golf, Visit Indochina, Wyndham Danang Golden Bay, Viet Pilgrim, Asian Companion Travel, Da Nang Dreamtrip, and Peony Edu Travel. These esteemed businesses seized the opportunity to foster connections and forge partnerships with nearly 100 major travel companies in Malaysia.
Da Nang’s noteworthy achievements in 2024 include: Securing the 2nd position in the Top 11 Best Destinations in Asia Owing to its prowess in beach resort tourism, Hosting esteemed hotel brands, Offering unique theme parks, a vibrant nightlife, and a rich culinary heritage.
Da Nang also boasts the advantage of being linked to world heritage sites. It has been lauded as Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination. The impressive growth in international visitors to Da Nang in the first seven months of 2024, with over 2.4 million international guests staying at hotels and resorts, is a testament to the destination’s allure.
Malaysia has consistently been among the top 10 international markets for Da Nang, demonstrating commendable growth. In 2016, only 26,787 Malaysian tourists visited Da Nang, but by 2019, this number had tripled to 88,583. The first 7 months of 2024 saw a significant increase, with 75,067 Malaysian visitors arriving in Da Nang, approaching the total for the entire year of 2019.
