Manulife Danang International Marathon will hold its 5th edition on August 6, 2017.
Celebrating 5 successful years of organization, Danang, the biggest coastal city of Vietnam, will again be hosting the Manulife Danang International Marathon 2017. Offering a wide range of distances; 5Km, 10Km, 21Km and 42Km, the event is expecting to welcome more than 5,000 runners. The race is an exciting invitation for both local and international runners to go explore this exotically beautiful beach city and experience one of the most magnificent marathon courses in South East Asia.
The marathon will be following the stretch of the city coastline and will have runners crossing the fascinating and iconic bridges of Danang. Being an early morning start, participants will be able to enjoy the amazing sunrise as well as the sights and sounds of the city waking up. Apart from the magnificent race course, participants will be treated to a great Central Vietnam taste thanks to Danang’s spectacular beaches. Danang’s location is surrounded by three of the most visited tourist cities in Vietnam; Hue the Imperial City, My Son the Holy Cham City and Hoi An – the Ancient Town.
Over the past editions, the run has had positive impacts to the sports tourism industry of Vietnam. The marathon is certified by IAAF – AIMS (International Association of Athletics Federations and Association of International Marathon and Distance Races); thus attracting a discerning crowd many of which come from different parts of the globe. In 2016, the marathon attracted a total of 4,500 participants from which 62% were foreigners and tourists joining 42Km and 21Km divisions.
Pulse Active, the organizer of the marathon, is a pioneer in the sports events industry. It has organized many Sport, Lifestyle and Entertainment events in Vietnam ranging from the competitive (HCMC Run – The City Marathon and Challenge Vietnam) to the recreational fun runs (Color Me Run and PRISMA – The Night Run). Pulse Active estimates that there has been an economic impact of between $10-$12 Million in 2016 solely from the three international competitive events it organized.

On August 5, the day before the run, the Family Fun Day will be held at the Bien Dong Park. There will be various interesting activities for runners as well as non-runners and their families to enjoy and be active together at the event site, which will signal the start of the event leading up to race day. On the race day, the run will start at 4:30am for the longer distances and later on, at 7:20 am for the 5Km charity run. Long distance runners will have the chance to run while contemplating one of the most impressive sunrise of Vietnam.
Having achieved a good number of loyal runners and having gained a name within the Map of South East Asian Marathons, the Manulife Danang International Marathon is expecting to attract many more runners from all over the world, with the vision of becoming a must race marathon in the Asian region.
