On the evening of March 4, 2026, the Light & Heritage Festival 2026 at Hoi An Memories Island will officially open with a spectacular highlight: an artistic lantern-drone performance depicting the Dragon and Phoenix, seamlessly combined with fireworks and large-scale outdoor live performances.
The opening night is expected to deliver a truly immersive, multi-sensory experience—where cutting-edge performance technology blends with traditional culture, theatrical arts, and a heritage setting. For the first time in Hoi An, the iconic Dragon–Phoenix imagery will take shape across the night sky through lantern-drone technology, creating a vivid visual tableau above the cultural space of Faifo.

Dragon–Phoenix lantern drones, symbols of auspiciousness, as the highlight of the March 4 opening night
On the night of March 4, the sky above Hoi An Memories Island will transform into a living artwork as Dragon–Phoenix lantern drones glow brilliantly mid-air, accompanied by dazzling fireworks and a grand outdoor stage featuring hundreds of performers below. Together, these elements will merge into a breathtaking moment that recreates the prosperity and vibrancy of the 17th-century Hoi An trading port.
Beyond the spectacle, the Dragon–Phoenix lantern drones stand as a proud tribute to East Asian culture. As enduring symbols of good fortune and prosperity, they carry wishes for the most auspicious beginnings to Spring 2026. Reimagining these traditional icons through the language of modern technology is considered a creative highlight in Hoi An Memories Island’s contemporary approach to heritage storytelling.

Large-scale artistic lantern installations with the theme “Chau An Ship – A Heritage Canvas” recreate the flourishing Faifo trading port
Not only lighting up the sky, the festival also unfolds across the heritage grounds of Hoi An Memories Island through large-scale lantern installations designed as interconnected “memory fragments,” forming a vibrant heritage canvas within an open-air setting.
The entire site will be illuminated, guiding visitors into a world where memory and the present converge—inviting them to step into the historical flow of ancient Hoi An. The interplay between ground-level performances and a sky filled with light promises emotionally charged, climactic moments for audiences.

Following the opening night, the Light & Heritage Festival 2026 will continue until April 30, featuring a sustained series of cultural and artistic activities. The large-scale lantern space themed “Chau An Ship – A Heritage Canvas” will keep recreating the radiant Faifo trading port through light installations, alongside traditional craft village experiences, hands-on workshops, and daily artistic performances for visitors.

A series of cultural mini-shows adds a distinctive layer to the festival experience
By bringing together heritage, art, and contemporary performance technology, the festival is expected to become a new nighttime experience highlight of Hoi An—attracting both domestic and international visitors throughout this spring season.
