This was the directive of Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, at the Conference on the implementation of tasks for the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2026, held on the morning of December 25.
Proactive and creative to make breakthroughs in the new phase
On behalf of the city leadership, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi commended and highly appreciated the achievements of the culture, sports and tourism sector, while acknowledging the close cooperation and companionship of investors and enterprises, which made an important contribution to the development of the city’s culture, sports and tourism sector in 2025.

Regarding tasks in the coming period, the Vice Chairwoman requested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism develop new solutions and directions, demonstrate proactiveness and creativity, and actively seek support from departments, agencies and local authorities, along with consensus across the entire sector, in order to better fulfill assigned tasks.
In particular, the sector should continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement important guidelines, resolutions and conclusions of the Central Government and the Government on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people; the Cultural Development Strategy to 2030, together with the objectives and orientations of the Resolution of the Da Nang Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term.
Identifying planning as a key task, the Vice Chairwoman requested the sector to focus on developing sectoral planning in connection with adjustments to the Da Nang City Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050. This includes completing planning for the conservation, restoration and preservation of major heritage sites such as the My Son Temple Complex, the Hoi An Ancient Town, and the Special National Scenic Site of Ngu Hanh Son.

At the same time, the sector should strengthen communication and visual propaganda, press information, as well as cultural, artistic, sports and tourism activities in connection with major national and city holidays and events.
The Department is tasked with advising on and organizing major events in 2026 such as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026; the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2026; the Enjoy Da Nang Festival 2026; the 10th Da Nang City Sports Games 2026; and scientific conferences on research, conservation and promotion of Buddhist cultural heritage, including Dong Duong Buddhist Institute…
“The sector should focus on advising on the development and completion of key mechanisms and policies for long-term development, including a thematic resolution on cultural development; projects for developing cultural industries and grassroots cultural–sports institutions; conservation and promotion of cultural and ethnic sports heritage; orientations for Da Nang tourism development to 2030 with a vision to 2045; and an international communication and promotion strategy for Da Nang’s image,” Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.
The city will continue implementing the programs ‘5 No’s’, ‘3 Haves’, and ‘4 Safeties’, associated with Directive No. 43-CT/TU of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on culture and urban civility; and effectively implement the “All People Unite to Build a Cultural Life” Movement and the Project on Building a Cultural and Civilized Urban Lifestyle across the city.

In the tourism sector, the Vice Chairwoman requested a focus on removing difficulties, promoting key driving projects, and improving the quality of cultural tourism products. Investment should be directed toward developing distinctive products in Hoi An, My Son, and Cu Lao Cham, and promoting the brand “One Green Destination – Three World-class Experiences.”
Efforts should be intensified in communication, promotion and marketing of Da Nang tourism to domestic and international markets in a coordinated and effective manner.
Priority should be given to attracting high-spending, long-stay visitor segments, especially from key markets such as Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Australia and Europe, while expanding potential markets such as India, the Middle East and the United States. Efforts should also focus on restoring and opening new international routes from key and potential markets. Tourism development is oriented toward the southern part of the city, along with green tourism, community-based tourism and agricultural tourism.
At the same time, state management of the press should be strengthened; spokesperson capacity and information provision for the media enhanced; proactive policy communication implemented; and effective implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism ensured.
“With a tradition of unity, dynamism and a strong sense of responsibility, I firmly believe that the Da Nang culture, sports and tourism sector will successfully fulfill its set objectives, making increasingly important contributions to the city’s socio-economic development, together with the country entering a new era – the era of national advancement,” Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi stated.
A pivotal year with many notable highlights
The year 2025 was of special significance, marked by many important political, historical and cultural events, and was also the first year of implementing the two-level local government model. In this context, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism made great efforts to overcome challenges, completing a large workload and achieving comprehensive results.

State management in the fields of culture, sports, tourism, information, press and publishing continued to be strengthened; administrative reform and organizational restructuring were decisively implemented, improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Heritage conservation and promotion stood out as a bright spot, with seven national treasures recognized. Many key heritage sites and relics were restored in connection with sustainable tourism development. Museum activities attracted a large number of visitors, with the Museum of Cham Sculpture and the Da Nang Museum welcoming more than half a million visitors.
Many large-scale cultural and artistic events and festivals were organized, contributing to affirming Da Nang’s position as a regional and international event hub.
Tourism recorded strong growth, with more than 17.3 million overnight visitors and revenue of approximately VND 60 trillion. Efforts in promotion, market expansion, environmental protection and tourism security were emphasized.

The sports sector continued to develop, with nearly 37% of residents participating in regular physical exercise; high-performance sports won more than 1,100 medals at domestic and international competitions.
Entering 2026, the culture, sports and tourism sector will focus on implementing breakthrough solutions to create momentum for effectively carrying out tasks and objectives of the 2026–2030 Five-Year Plan.
Strong promotion of cultural, sports and tourism activities will continue, aiming to position Da Nang as one of the country’s cultural and sports centers, a regional and international event hub, and a major media and communications center. Efforts will be intensified to promote Da Nang’s image internationally. The city strives to become a core city in the urban chain and a growth pole of the Central Highlands–Central Key Economic Region, a high-quality tourism and service center, a heritage tourism destination, and a green and creative tourism destination of Viet Nam and Southeast Asia.
At the Conference, on behalf of the President, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi presented the Third-class Labor Order to two individuals of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for their outstanding achievements contributing to the cause of building socialism and safeguarding the Fatherland.

Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister were awarded to three individuals of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for achievements during the 2020–2024 period, contributing to the cause of building socialism and safeguarding the Fatherland. Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee were awarded to four collectives and ten individuals for outstanding task performance in 2025. Certificates of Commendation from the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism were awarded to collectives and individuals with good performance and significant contributions to the development of the city’s culture, sports and tourism sector in 2025.

On this occasion, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training signed a cooperation program for the 2026–2030 period, focusing on communication to raise awareness of physical education, school sports, culture and heritage; and coordination in physical education, school sports activities, tourism and school-based education.
