The traditional craft of making Tuy Loan rice paper in Hoa Phong commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang City, has been officially recognized as a national intangible heritage. This announcement was made on February 21 by the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism through Decision No. 374/QD-BVHTTDL.

The Tuy Loan rice paper has a long history and is associated with opening the nation to the South. Its fame has persisted over time due to its delicious flavor of rice, sesame, ginger, garlic, fish sauce, salt, and sugar. Currently, 15 households in Hoa Phong commune still maintain the traditional rice paper making profession, primarily in Tuy Loan village. These households use conventional manual methods and follow the Tuy Loan rice paper tradition from past to present.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has requested all levels of the People’s Committees in Da Nang City to carry out state management following the provisions of the law on cultural heritage within the scope of their tasks and powers. This recognition brings the number of national intangible heritages in Da Nang to seven, including Quang-land opera, the craft of Ngu Hanh Son stone craft, Nam O fish sauce making craft, Cau Ngu festivals, the art of singing Bai choi, the Ngu Hanh Son Avalokiteśvara festival, and the traditional craft of making Tuy Loan rice paper.
