HOI AN, VIETNAM, 23 JUNE 2025: Namia River Retreat is honored to host Shades of Lotus, an immersive cross-disciplinary exhibition where art, fashion, and cuisine converge around one of Vietnam’s most enduring cultural symbols: the lotus.
From June 26 to July 13, three celebrated Vietnamese artists – HuongColor, Nguyen Hoang Ngan, and Trinh Bich Thuy– invite guests to experience the timeless symbolism of the lotus through their distinctive creative languages.
Curated in collaboration with Vietnam Color and supported by Navigator Magazine, this exhibition is more than a visual celebration; it is a journey into the spirit of Vietnam, seen through the lens of memory, femininity, and transformation.
Each artist interprets the lotus as a living presence through their unique lenses:
- In Lotus Realm, HuongColor paints with silk and dó paper, capturing ephemeral memories of scent, light, and childhood. Her works speak to a serene world between moonlight and water, where the lotus becomes a threshold between the tangible and the spiritual.
- In Lotus Maiden, Nguyen Hoang Ngan renders quiet moments of women immersed in nature. Her refined ink technique on dó paper evokes both stillness and rebirth, offering a meditative reflection on inner strength and beauty.
- In Lotus Dreams in Clouds, fashion designer Trinh Bich Thuy transforms Vietnamese silk into ethereal gowns, where lotus petals dance across the sky like celestial muses. Her garments are not merely to be worn—they are to be felt, lived, and remembered.
“Shades of Lotus” edition is also elevated by a special culinary narrative led by Chef Thu Le, Executive Chef of Namia River Retreat. Born and raised in Hội An, Chef Thu Le brings a deep love for her homeland into every creation. Her exclusive lotus-inspired menu, curated for the exhibition, reimagines the delicate flavors of lotus seed, leaf, and pod through a modern, mindful lens. “Cuisine cannot be separated from its story,” she shares. “Every dish is a memory, a scent, a breath – just like the lotus itself,” she said.
Held within Namia River Retreat’s riverside space, where architecture, nature, and Vietnamese herbology-inspired wellness coexist, the exhibition finds its spiritual home. Here, art becomes ritual, and the quiet beauty of the lotus echoes through every crafted space, reflective pond, herb garden, and meditative sala.
“Shades of Lotus” is part of Namia River Retreat’s ongoing series to create meaningful cultural experiences rooted in Vietnamese identity, where every breath, brushstroke, and step is a return to self.
