In the southern part of Da Nang City, where the Truong Giang River flows through lush village hamlets and ancient sua trees quietly burst into bloom each spring, Huong Tra Ecological Village reveals a very different spring journey—peaceful, authentic, and rich in cultural depth.

Within this setting, the Huong Tra Communal House Festival 2026 unfolds as a meaningful early-spring gathering, where traditional rituals, community life, and rural experiences blend seamlessly, inviting visitors to touch a way of local life that has been carefully preserved over generations.

The ceremonial rites – Touching the spiritual depth of village belief

The early spring morning in Huong Tra begins with the solemn atmosphere of the communal house worship ceremony—one of the most important rituals in the community’s spiritual life.

From 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. on February 26, 2026 (the 10th day of the first lunar month), at Huong Tra Communal House, the opening ceremony and traditional rites take place, including offerings, incense rituals, bai choi folk chanting, and the distribution of lucky tokens for the new year. This is a moment for both locals and visitors to return to their roots and send wishes for peace, prosperity, and abundant harvests.

Immediately afterward, at 9:00 a.m., in the Tam Ky River area in front of the communal house, the fish-release activity to regenerate aquatic resources is held as a meaningful ritual—connecting people with nature and highlighting the harmonious, sustainable way of life of riverside communities.

The festive activities – When the village opens its doors to spring

Following the ceremonial space, the festival continues with vibrant communal activities that remain deeply rooted in Huong Tra’s rustic charm.

Throughout February 26, 2026, the areas around Huong Tra Communal House and Vuon Cua Garden become lively community hubs, featuring:

Traditional village chess competitions, ornamental plant exhibitions, and the photo contest “Graceful Huong Tra”;

The children’s art contest “Beautiful Scenery of Huong Tra”, calligraphy activities, book exhibitions and giveaways;

Folk games held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the ward’s stadium and the garden area in front of the communal house.

In the evening, at 7:30 p.m. on February 26, 2026, Vuon Cua Garden comes alive with a community art performance celebrating the Party and Spring, along with award ceremonies for the day’s activities—bringing a spring day rich in community spirit to a warm and joyful close.

Touching the flavours of Tet in Huong Tra’s spring rhythm

On February 27, 2026 (the 11th day of the first lunar month), as the festive atmosphere gently settles after solemn rituals and lively gatherings, the spring journey in Huong Tra continues in a very intimate way—through the simple yet meaningful flavours of Tet in the countryside.

Within the rural culinary space, held over February 26–27, 2026, in front of Huong Tra Communal House and along nearby village homes, visitors are invited to connect with local life through taste. Familiar dishes of the Quang region are prepared in a humble yet memory-filled manner: Quang noodles, banh beo, mixed young jackfruit, and other traditional Tet dishes closely associated with family and village life.

Rather than elaborate banquets, Huong Tra’s cuisine is presented within everyday living spaces—where kitchen fires, simple huts, and house verandas become meeting points between locals and visitors. Each dish is not only meant to be tasted, but also to tell a story of lifestyle, sharing, and the deep sense of togetherness that defines Tet in riverside villages along the Truong Giang.

Amid this gentle spring rhythm, touching the flavours of Tet in Huong Tra becomes another way of returning to the original essence—where spring travel is not merely about attending a festival, but about staying long enough to let the taste of home linger in every moment.

Huong Tra Communal House – The cultural heart of the sua-flowered land along the Truong Giang

By joining the festival, visitors have the opportunity to pause at Huong Tra Communal House—considered the cultural heart of the riverside community in Huong Tra Ward, southern Da Nang City. Beyond being the venue for important spiritual ceremonies, it is also a place to sense the depth of rural life, where memories, customs, and community spirit have been faithfully preserved over generations.

Surrounding the communal house is Huong Tra Ecological Village – the land of sua flowers along the Truong Giang River, where from April onward, soft yellow sua blossoms gently cover village paths, riverbanks, and gardens, creating a rare sense of purity and calm. Within this landscape, the annual “Tam Ky – Sua Flower Season” Festival takes place, becoming a distinctive cultural and ecological hallmark of the area.

Notably, Huong Tra is home to a precious cluster of ancient sua trees, including nine trees aged between 100 and 150 years, which were recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment in 2024. These time-worn trees are not only living witnesses of history, but also key elements shaping the identity of the communal house setting—where festivals, nature, and collective memory continue to coexist in a resilient and living form.

Returning to the original essence – A spring that lingers in memory

The Huong Tra Communal House Festival does not seek to impress with grand scale or overwhelming excitement. What truly stays with visitors is the feeling of slowing down amid a riverside village, where the festival remains closely woven into community life, nature, and enduring traditional values.

Amid the gentle spring scenery of water and countryside, Huong Tra offers a very personal spring journey—a return to the original essence, where each step is not just participation in a festival, but a touch upon a living cultural memory within the heart of Da Nang.
