In an effort to revitalize and attract international visitors to Da Nang, the Da Nang Department of Tourism (the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam or Viet Nam) held a promotional event on November 25, 2024, in Chengdu (the People’s Republic of China or China). This event was graciously attended by Mr. Guo Degang – Deputy Director of the Chengdu Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism. The gathering welcomed Tourism Association, over 40 participants, including travel agencies and Chengdu and Da Nang media representatives.
DA NANG PROMOTES TOURISM IN CHENGDU – CHINA
During this informative program, the Da Nang Department of Tourism (DDT) highlighted Da Nang’s diverse destinations, introduced new tourism products, and showcased upcoming events and festivals. Furthermore, discussions focused on initiatives to enhance the tourism experience, particularly on MICE and wedding tourism.
The DDT has actively engaged with travel businesses to gather valuable feedback and suggestions regarding reopening direct flights between Chengdu and Da Nang; in this collaborative spirit, discussions centered on policies aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation to attract tourists. Tourism leaders and businesses from both cities came together to address challenges, exchange insights, and propose innovative solutions designed to elevate the quality of tourism products and services, catering to visitors’ evolving preferences.
Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the DDT, highlighted during the program: “Building on our fruitful partnership established between the DDT and the Chengdu Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism from 2018 to 2023, we are committed to deepening our collaboration in this new phase. Our efforts will prioritize the restoration of the direct flight route between Chengdu and Da Nang while also providing robust support to businesses in maximizing their engagement with the tourist markets on both sides. Together, we will enhance destination marketing strategies and foster collaborative tourism development initiatives that benefit both Da Nang (Vietnam) and Chengdu (China) shortly.”
A representative from the Chengdu Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism recently addressed attendees, stating: ” In August of this year, At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam paid a state visit to China. During the visit, General Secretary, President To Lam held talks with General Secretary, President Xi Jinping; and the two sides agreed to designate 2025 as the ‘Viet Nam – China Humanity Exchange Year’. Accordingly, the two sides will jointly organize a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam – China diplomatic relations.
Da Nang is distinguished by its rich cultural and tourism resources. National Geographic has recognized it as one of the ’50 Must-Visit Places in a Lifetime,’ earning the esteemed title of the ‘Hawaii of the East.’ Looking ahead, Chengdu is committed to fostering a closer cooperative relationship with Da Nang, enhancing information exchange, and collaboratively developing unique tourism products that highlight cultural and creative experiences, thereby enriching the travel experience for visitors.
Furthermore, we aim to actively promote friendly exchanges between our regions, cultivating mutual understanding and cultural respect while infusing new vitality and opportunities into both areas’ tourism and cultural sectors.
