DA NANG PROMOTES THE DIRECT AIR ROUTE TO INDIA

The City People’s Committee of Danang has taken a significant step in restoring tourism and diversifying the international visitor market by organizing connections and discussions with airlines and travel companies in India. The primary objective of these talks is to establish a direct flight route between India and Da Nang, which will facilitate the influx of tourists to the city.

The delegation, led by Director Truong Thi Hong Hanh of the Danang Department of Tourism, visited New Delhi and Gurugram – the largest city in the North Indian state of Haryana, home to several airline headquarters.

As part of the official visit, the Danang Department of Tourism engaged directly with Air India, Vistara, and Indigo Airlines to share essential information about Danang as a destination, highlighting the benefits of the city’s impressive growth potential in the Indian tourist market, and the attractive policies that Danang offers to international airlines willing to launch new direct air routes. The Da Nang officials also received valuable insights and proposals from the aviation partners on expanding the flight network to Da Nang.

The Embassy of Vietnam in India representatives attended the meetings, Danang International Airport – International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, and IndiGo Airlines in Vietnam.

Mrs. Truong Thi Hong Hanh stated that Danang has become a popular destination for Indian tourists due to its beautiful beach resorts, prestigious hotel brands, exciting theme parks, vibrant nightlife, and diverse culinary culture. Moreover, Danang’s proximity to world cultural heritages has earned it the title of “Asia’s leading festival and event destination.”

The number of Indian visitors to Da Nang has risen, a testament to the city’s appeal. In the first nine months of 2023, over 95,000 Indian visitors traveled to Danang, accounting for almost 50% of the total Indian visitors to Vietnam.

The Danang Department of Tourism is committed to providing tailored support to airlines operating flights to Danang, including promoting new routes through our program designed to welcome the first flight and foreign promotion programs; as well as being a hub connecting airlines with tourism business units to create attractive and preferential product packages, facilitating tourist exchanges between Danang and major Indian cities.

During the meeting, it was discussed that airlines are keen to expand their flight network to Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, with Danang being one of the preferred destinations. Vistara and IndiGo airlines are considering opening direct flights to this central coastal Vietnamese city.

During the trip, the Danang Department of Tourism organized a meeting program with travel companies that bring tourists to Vietnam and Da Nang, such as Motherson Air Travel, Dream Trip4U, Luxury Vacations & Holiday, and ATG Holidays. These companies cater to different segments such as MICE, FIT (Free Independent Travelers or Tourists), and high-end family travelers, which align with Danang’s customer market orientation.

The travel representatives were impressed with the diverse products and services of good quality that Danang offers to tourists. Indian tourists prefer to spend at least four nights at 4-5-star hotels in Danang and enjoy entertainment activities, night-time entertainment, bars, pubs, and spas. Danang is highly suitable for Indian customers’ tastes as it offers an attractive product chain.

Motherson Air Travel’s Sales Director, Mr. Anuj Anand, plans to take guests to new destinations, and Danang is on the list. Mr. Vinay Arora, Director of ATG Holidays, expressed satisfaction and surprise by the quality of Indian hotels and restaurants in Da Nang. Having brought MICE delegations to Da Nang, Mr. Vinay and Ms. Aishwarya Arora of Luxury Vacations & Holidays company highly appreciated the MICE policy that the city offers to delegations.

The business trip proceeded smoothly with the assistance of Indian travel and aviation partners and active support from the Embassy of Vietnam in India. This collaboration is expected to expedite the introduction of direct flights and boost the number of Indian visitors to Danang shortly.
