As summer unfolds into journeys shaped by emotion and experience, Da Nang once again finds its place on the global travel map with a distinctive highlight. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival – DIFF 2026 has been officially selected by Travel + Leisure Asia as one of the world’s must-experience summer festivals, becoming the only representative from Vietnam on this prestigious list.

It is no coincidence that a festival along the Han River stands alongside world-renowned events. According to Travel + Leisure, the period from late spring to mid-summer is when riverside and coastal destinations—where people can fully open themselves to outdoor experiences—become most appealing. In Da Nang, this familiar setting is transformed into a grand nighttime stage, where light, sound, and people move in harmony, telling stories that resonate deeply.

Taking place from late May to mid-July, the festival brings together international fireworks teams across multiple themed nights. Each performance goes beyond technical display, becoming a narrative told through light—where fireworks and music intertwine to create a continuous emotional flow throughout the summer. Along both banks of the Han River, especially in the city center, the space becomes an open stage where visitors do not simply watch, but step into the experience itself.

The festival atmosphere extends far beyond the fireworks. Along Bach Dang Street and surrounding riverside areas, cultural activities, street performances, and community gatherings unfold continuously, shaping a different rhythm of city life. Here, the festival is no longer defined by a clear beginning or end, but becomes a state of being—where everyone can take part in their own way.

Standing alongside iconic events such as Glastonbury Festival (UK), Primavera Sound (Spain), and Gion Matsuri(Japan), DIFF is steadily asserting its identity as a festival with a unique cultural signature, positioning Da Nang more prominently on the global event map.

Its inclusion in the Travel + Leisure list is not only recognition of scale and organization, but also reflects a clear approach: developing tourism products rooted in real experiences, open spaces, and emotional connection. This is how Da Nang is shaping itself as a true festival destination—where events are not just hosted, but become part of the city’s everyday rhythm.

DIFF 2026 is positioned as a special “All Stars” season of global fireworks artistry, bringing together 10 teams from 9 countries and territories, including many new participants. More than a competition, it becomes a “stage of light” where different styles converge, compete, and tell stories through the universal language of light, music, and technology.

The festival officially runs from May 30 to July 11, 2026 along the Han River, featuring six themed nights—Nature, Heritage, Culture, Creativity, and Vision—culminating in the grand finale, “United Horizons.” Each night represents a chapter in the story of Da Nang, where nature sets the stage, culture adds depth, and vision opens toward the future.

Alongside the fireworks nights, a vibrant series of cultural, artistic, entertainment, and technology-driven activities spreads across the city. Real-time light and sound performances, along with new forms of interaction, blur the boundaries between audience and space—transforming DIFF into not just something to watch, but something to engage with and feel.

As the journey draws to a close and the fireworks fade, what remains is more than memories of dazzling displays. It is a collection of personal moments—standing among the crowds by the Han River, looking up at the illuminated summer sky of Da Nang. The light extends beyond the fireworks, reflecting across the water, the urban skyline, and within the emotions of each spectator.

And in that moment, the journey becomes complete in a truly “return to origin” way—when you are no longer an observer, but gently become part of the space itself. Every burst of color, every streak of light across the summer sky of Da Nang 2026 is not only to be seen, but to be felt—as a way of rediscovering balance and reconnecting with oneself.
