On the occasion of Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (April 26, 2026), the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture will offer free admission to all visitors.

Amid the vibrant rhythm of April holidays—when many journeys lean toward the energy of the sea and festive activities—the museum opens up a different kind of space: quieter, deeper, and just enough to invite a slower pace.

More than a place to preserve artifacts, the museum unfolds as a space of storytelling, where each work is a fragment of history. It currently safeguards 12 of Da Nang’s 19 national treasures, alongside one of the world’s most extensive and valuable collections of Cham sculpture, spanning from the 5th to the 15th century. These seemingly silent sandstone pieces hold within them a vivid world—where art, belief, and daily life are intricately interwoven in every carved detail.

Through statues of deities, reliefs, and sacred symbols, the strong imprint of Hinduism becomes evident—not only as a religion, but as a system of aesthetics and philosophy. The divine is not separated from human life, but connected to the order of the universe, to belief systems, and to rituals that once shaped the Cham civilization. At the same time, details in form, attire, and decorative patterns reveal a culturally rich society, closely linked to ancient maritime trade routes that connected this region with other civilizations.

Walking through this space is not about moving quickly from one gallery to another, but about pausing a little longer. A closer look at each detail, a moment of stillness to absorb, and a fuller presence with what stands before you—these are what shape the experience.

On this commemorative day, when journeys often carry a sense of returning to one’s roots, a visit to the museum can become a meaningful highlight—where travel is not only about moving through places, but about stepping deeper into the cultural layers that have shaped this land.
