15th February, at Tourism Industry Conference 2017, Vice Chairman of Danang People’s Committee – Mr Dang Viet Dung appreciated the efforts of the tourism industry and recognized contributions of the authority and businesses in supporting the development and growth of tourism as a leading industry.
According to reports by Department of Tourism, in 2016:
Total visits to Danang: 5.545.789 (18.45% increase as compared to 2015)
International visits: 1.677.297 (32.46% increase as compared to 2015)
Domestic visits: 3.868.492 (13.25% increase as compared to 2015).
Total revenue from tourism activities reached 16082 billion vnd, a 25.48% increase.
At the end of January 2017, there are 35 frequent and charter flights to Danang. In 2016, there were many international events to promote the products and services to tourists. Danang was honored as Asia’s Leading Festival and Events destination 2017, and also continued to be in Top 10 destinations in Asia by Smart Travel Asia
In 2017, the focus will be on exploiting solutions towards tourism development as a leading industry of the city. The goal is 6.3 million visitors, with 2 million international visitors and total revenue of 18500 billion vnd.
At the conference, Vice Director of VNAT Ha Van Sieu annouced the Decision of Son Tra National Park Development until 2025 by the Prime Minister.
Accordingly, Son Tra National Park is in Tho Quang commune, Son Tra district, with total 4.439ha in area.
The main goal of developing Son Tra National Park before 2025 is to prepare Son Tra to be an ecosystem resorts center of the South Center of Vietnam in 2030.
On this occasion, Department of Tourism received Certificate of Appreciation of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 11 individuals received Certificate of Appreciation of Chairman of People’s Committee, 44 individuals and groups received Certificate of Appreciation of Department of Tourism.
