Da Nang is bustling to welcome domestic and international tourists for New Year’s 2024

The Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, in cooperation with Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Airlines, and Vietjet Air, cordially extends a warm welcome to the first domestic and international visitors to Da Nang on the auspicious occasion of New Year 2024.

On January 1, 2024, Da Nang International Airport welcomed 112 domestic and international flights carrying over 15,500 passengers. Out of these, 50 flights were international, carrying an estimated 7,500 passengers, all efficiently processed by the airport authorities. The Da Nang Department of Tourism also successfully welcomed three flights during the New Year holiday, specifically on Monday, January 1, 2024.

At the domestic terminal, Vietnam Airlines’ domestic flight with the plate number VN157 transported nearly 140 passengers from Ha Noi to Da Nang, thanks to the efficient handling by the airport staff.

At the International Terminal, Vietjet Airlines’ flight with the plate number VJ881 from Incheon (South Korea) to Da Nang carried over 140 passengers seamlessly processed by the airport authorities. Later that day, Vietnam Airlines’ flight with the plate number VN319 from Narita (Japan) arrived in Da Nang, bringing 154 Japanese passengers, who were greeted and assisted by the airport staff.

Representatives from esteemed organizations such as the Da Nang Department of Tourism, Central Airport Authority, Da Nang International Airport, and Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, along with distinguished representatives from Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet, recently convened for a warm welcome event to greet the esteemed passengers. The ceremony was graced with splendid art performances, and passengers were presented with delightful gifts and vouchers for air tickets. They were also greeted with traditional performances and received the “nón lá” (Vietnamese traditional conical hats) and check-in photos, adding to their overall experience.

Air travel is the primary mode of transportation for tourists visiting Da Nang, with an estimated 40,000 flights carrying more than 6.3 million passengers in 2023. This translates to a remarkable 1.42 times increase from 2022 and an 81.2% recovery from 2019, highlighting the robust nature of the tourism industry in Danang.

The re-establishment of international direct routes has played a vital role in accelerating tourism recovery in Da Nang. By the end of 2023, the International Airport is expected to operate seven domestic routes with an average frequency of 51 flights per day and 16 international routes with 49 flights per day.

According to the airlines’ general update, the total number of flights to Da Nang during the first three days of the New Year holiday in 2024 is estimated to reach 434, a 10% increase from last year. Moreover, passengers are expected to exceed 65,000, indicating a 14% increase from the previous year.

The positive signals from the flights to Da Nang on January 1, 2024, suggest a more promising scenario for the recovery and development of routes to Da Nang. The objective is to achieve 8.42 million tourist arrivals in 2024.

During the upcoming New Year holiday in 2024, the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang is excited to extend a warm welcome to the Westerdam cruise ship. This magnificent ship will sail from Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on December 30th, 2023, stopping at Phu My and Nha Trang ports before finally docking at the Tien Sa port in Da Nang on January 2nd, 2024.

In the year 2023, Da Nang had the honor of welcoming 22 cruise ships, which carried a total of 18,000 passengers. According to the schedule of shipping lines registered with Da Nang Port, this number is anticipated to increase to 45 trips, with over 40,000 passengers in 2024. The city of Da Nang is excited to continue attracting tourists worldwide and is committed to providing exceptional hospitality and service to all visitors.
