As a large festival, city-scale and postponed for two years because of Covid-19, in 2023, Avalokitesvara Festival will return with considerable activities, taking place in 3 days, from March 8 to 10, 2023 (for the 17th, 18th, and 19th of the second lunar month), at the campus of Quan The Am Pagoda and the roads of Su Van Hanh, Le Van Hien.
The festival will contain many activities. Specifically, the ritual, belief, and religious activities will have calligraphy performances, the costume ceremony of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, the procession of the statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and speeches about Ma Nhai at Ngu Hanh Son, planting Bodhi tree… The festival also has multiple cultural, artistic, and sports activities.
Avalokitesvara festival consists of two parts: ceremony and festival. The ceremony has bold colours of Buddhist rituals mixed with the festival, which are traditional cultural activities with strong humanity.
Particularly for the festival, the festival was enthusiastically organized with a variety of activities: costume festival, boi singing (tong), the contest of subjects: poetry, ink painting, releasing lanterns on Co Co river, boat racing, and basket-boat shake, tug of war, boat contest, vegetarian cooking contest, camp gate decoration, Bai Choi singing, tea meditation, stone statue exhibition, and stone carving contest of Non-Nuoc stone art village… lasted for three days, three nights in the grounds of Quan The Am pagoda, Kim Son mountain and on the banks of Co Co river.
The festival aims to build conditions for tourists and people to create and enjoy culture and contribute to promoting the socialization of festivals and tourism activities in the area.
