The 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV) is honored to welcome Jérôme Baron, Artistic Director of the Festival des 3 Continents (France), as President of the Jury for the Vietnamese Film Competition.
One of France’s most respected figures in film curation and cinema studies, Jérôme Baron studied film history and aesthetics at Université Paris 8 and Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris 3) before embarking on a long-standing career with the Festival des 3 Continents. Since 2010, he has served as the festival’s Artistic Director.
With extensive experience in the international film festival circuit, Jérôme Baron is widely recognized for his contribution to discovering, promoting, and connecting emerging cinematic voices from Asia, Africa, and Latin America with audiences around the world. Under his artistic leadership, the Festival des 3 Continents has continued to strengthen its reputation as one of the leading international festivals dedicated to films from these regions.
Alongside his curatorial work, Jérôme Baron has been deeply involved in film education. Since 2001, he has taught film history and film analysis at CinéSup, mentoring generations of students preparing for admission to prestigious French film schools such as La Fémis and ENS Louis-Lumière. He has also taught documentary filmmaking at the University of Poitiers and, since 2004, has served as President of Le Cinématographe, a renowned French organization devoted to film heritage preservation and image education.
In addition, Jérôme Baron is an active researcher, writer, and lecturer whose work focuses on film history, aesthetics, and contemporary world cinema.
With his extensive expertise in film selection, evaluation, and international cinema, Jérôme Baron is expected to bring valuable professional insight to the Vietnamese Film Competition, further enhancing its artistic excellence and international prestige at DANAFF IV.
