According to the Organizing Committee of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), film critic and screenwriter Kong Rithdee will serve as Chair of the Critics Jury at this year’s festival.

Kong Rithdee is a Thai film critic, screenwriter, and translator. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Thai Film Archive in Bangkok.
For more than two decades, he has been one of Thailand’s most recognized voices in film criticism, regularly writing about cinema, literature, and politics for the Bangkok Post and various international publications. His writings extend beyond Thai cinema to cover significant developments in regional and global filmmaking.
In addition to his work in journalism and film studies, Kong Rithdee is also a literary translator, having translated numerous works between Thai and English. His translations include two novels by Veeraporn Nitiprapha and a collection of essays by artist Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook.
He has also worked as a screenwriter on the feature films The Island Funeral and The Cursed Land, broadening his contribution to cinema from criticism to creative practice.
With extensive experience in film criticism, research, and screenwriting, Kong Rithdee is regarded as one of the influential figures in contemporary Thai and Southeast Asian cinema.
His participation as Chair of the Critics Jury at DANAFF IV is expected to enhance the academic and critical value of the award while strengthening connections between Vietnamese cinema and film industries across the region.
DANAFF IV will take place from June 28 to July 4, 2026, in Da Nang under the slogan “DANAFF – Bridging Asia to the World”, bringing together filmmakers, artists, film professionals, and outstanding cinematic works from Vietnam, Asia, and beyond.
