FLOOD WARNING FOR RIVERS IN DA NANG CITY

1. Current Situation:
At present, water levels on the Vu Gia – Thu Bon River are fluctuating below Alarm Level 1 to below Alarm Level 2, while the Han River and the Tam Ky River are slowly receding, remaining below Alarm Level 1.

2. Warning:
From November 6 to November 8, water levels on rivers across Da Nang City are likely to rise again.

  • The flood peaks on the Vu Gia – Thu Bon River are expected to fluctuate from below Alarm Level 2 to around Alarm Level 3.
  • The Han River and Tam Ky River will be from below Alarm Level 2 to slightly above Alarm Level 2.

There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying and riverside areas, urban inundation in parts of the city, and flash floods and landslides along mountain slopes and riverbanks in mountainous areas of Da Nang.

3. Disaster Risk Level Due to Flooding:
Level 2 (Moderate Risk).

4. Forecasted Impacts:
Rising water levels and flooding on rivers may cause damage to riverine infrastructure, affect aquaculture ponds, the environment, and livelihoods, and disrupt socio-economic activities.
