To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (23/11/2005 – 23/11/2025), the Museum of Cham Sculpture presents the special exhibition “National Treasures – Heritage in the Heart of Da Nang,” while also introducing its renewed appearance following recent renovation and upgrades.

  • Opening ceremony: 4:00 PM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
  • Venue: Museum of Cham Sculpture, Da Nang.
  • Address: 02 2/9 Street, Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City.

1. Special Exhibition “National Treasures – Heritage in the Heart of Da Nang” (from November 19 to December 25, 2025)

This exhibition marks the first comprehensive public presentation of all 19 National Treasures located within the new Da Nang City. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire 14 original artifacts and 2 replicas, while the remaining 3 treasures, due to their association with heritage sites and conservation requirements, are showcased through curated documents and photographic materials displayed in parallel.

Through the meanings and values embodied in these 19 National Treasures, the exhibition portrays a vivid picture of the newly expanded Da Nang—a land where multiple cultures were born, converged, and intertwined, including Sa Huỳnh, Đông Sơn, and the ancient kingdoms of Champa and Đại Việt.
The two Đông Sơn treasures from the Hoàng Long Collection—the Đông Sơn bronze drum and bronze jar—bear witness to the advanced bronze-casting techniques and cultural sophistication of the ancient Vietnamese from the 3rd to the 1st century BCE.
The two Sa Huỳnh treasures—the Lai Nghi gold jewelry collection and the Lai Nghi agate animal-shaped bead, preserved at the Da Nang Museum—highlight the cultural, economic, and social achievements of early Central Vietnamese communities from the 3rd century BCE to the mid-1st century CE.

Particularly notable are the 15 Champa cultural treasures held across the collections of the Museum of Cham Sculpture (12 artifacts), the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board (2 artifacts), and the Da Nang Museum (1 artifact). These masterpieces reflect the continuous development, interaction, and cultural adaptation of Central Vietnam from the 7th to the 13th century, shaped significantly by Hindu and Buddhist influences.

The exhibition “National Treasures – Heritage in the Heart of Da Nang” not only honors the cultural and historical significance of these 19 treasures, but also reaffirms the essential role of heritage in the sustainable development of Da Nang—a city where a vibrant past continues to inspire and enrich the present in the ongoing journey of preserving and promoting Vietnam’s cultural identity.

2. Cultural Heritage Experience Activities (November 19, 2025)

A series of immersive cultural heritage experiences will take place in the museum’s garden courtyard, including: traditional Bàu Trúc pottery wheel techniques, Mỹ Nghiệp brocade weaving (both representing the long-standing Cham craft villages of the former Ninh Thuận Province, now Khánh Hòa), and woodblock printing on dó paper featuring motifs and patterns inspired by Cham sculpture.
These hands-on activities offer visitors the opportunity to learn about and directly engage with traditional Cham craftsmanship and folk printing techniques, while also allowing them to create and bring home unique, memorable keepsakes from their visit to the museum.

3. Introduction of the New Communication Products Showcasing the Museum’s Renewed Identity and Promoting the Values of Its 12 National Treasures (November 19, 2025)

The communication package includes:

  • A bilingual promotional video highlighting the museum’s history, its outstanding cultural values, and its renewed appearance following recent renovation and upgrades.
  • A digital communication set introducing the 12 National Treasures currently preserved at the museum.

With the expanded boundaries of Da Nang City, a new identity emerges—broader in space, deeper in cultural layers, and richer in experience. Through this event, the Museum of Cham Sculpture hopes to mark a meaningful milestone, affirming the dynamism and effectiveness of professional cooperation among museums, heritage sites, and private collectors across the new Da Nang. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen heritage communication and enhance community awareness of cultural preservation.

Following its renovation, the museum’s refreshed, modern, and welcoming environment will serve as an ideal setting for future experiential activities, artistic exchanges, and public cultural programs.
