On the morning of January 1, 2026, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City simultaneously organized activities to welcome the first visitors of the New Year at Da Nang International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, and the Hoi An Ancient Town.

This meaningful occasion contributes to promoting the image of a renewed Da Nang—dynamic, open and ready to embark on a new year of strong tourism growth and development.

1. At Da Nang International Airport

From 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at the Domestic Arrival Terminal of Da Nang International Airport, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City organized a ceremonial welcome for Flight VN157 from Hanoi, operated by Vietnam Airlines.
The event was highlighted by the presentation of flowers and congratulatory gifts to the first three lucky visitors arriving in Da Nang at the very first moments of the New Year, along with souvenir gifts for all passengers on board the flight.

The message “Happy New Year 2026 – Welcome to Da Nang” resonated throughout the terminal amid the vibrant atmosphere created by LED drum performances and artistic shows. Visitors were also invited to capture memorable moments at the check-in area, experience the “360° Welcome Danang” instant photo booth, and enjoy a warm cup of Da Nang coffee—offering a welcoming start to their journey and conveying the image of Da Nang as a friendly, hospitable and energetic destination from the very first hours of 2026.

At the International Arrival Terminal, the Department continued a series of New Year welcoming activities in two consecutive time slots.
From 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., the city welcomed a flight from Manila (the Philippines) operated by Cebu Pacific Air, presenting flowers and gifts to five lucky passengers, accompanied by a combination of traditional and contemporary artistic performances, check-in photo opportunities, and New Year greeting cards and souvenir gifts.

From 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Da Nang further welcomed seven international flights arriving from Incheon, Busan, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, bringing approximately 1,200 visitors to the city. Throughout this period, artistic performances, instant photo services and the distribution of tourism publications were continuously organized, creating a lively and festive atmosphere to mark the first day of the New Year 2026.

2. At Chu Lai Airport

The program was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, local authorities, airport management units, airlines, and members of the press. Visitors enjoyed festive drum performances and New Year artistic shows, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere.

Three lucky passengers on Flight VN1641 from Hanoi to Chu Lai were presented with a pair of domestic round-trip tickets operated by Vietnam Airlines, along with distinctive local gifts and vouchers for tourism service experiences in Da Nang. In addition, all passengers on both flights received souvenir gifts and vouchers for Da Nang tourism experiences, and were invited to take part in check-in activities to capture memorable moments marking the first days of the New Year 2026.

3. At the Hoi An Ancient Town

At 9:00 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at the area of the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a program to welcome the first visitor group to the Hoi An Ancient Town in 2026.

The program was attended by leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, local authorities, representatives of tourism enterprises, the visiting delegation, and members of the press, marking a meaningful and symbolic beginning for tourism activities in Hoi An at the start of the New Year.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the visiting delegation enjoyed a traditional art performance, engaged in cultural exchanges, and received flowers and souvenir gifts before embarking on a curated itinerary to explore the signature heritage sites of the Hoi An Ancient Town. This marked the beginning of a journey to discover the city’s distinctive cultural and tourism spaces in the New Year.

The simultaneous organization of New Year welcoming activities at Da Nang International Airport, Chu Lai Airport and the Hoi An Ancient Town, along with key attractions across Da Nang City such as the My Son Temple Complex, the Marble Mountains Scenic and Historic Site, and the Bay Mau Coconut Forest in Cam Thanh, not only carried symbolic significance for the start of the New Year but also generated new momentum and inspiration for the city’s tourism sector to enter 2026 with a strong commitment to double-digit growth.

Accordingly, Da Nang’s tourism industry aims to serve 19.1 million visitors in 2026, representing an increase of 10.5% compared to 2025. Of this total, international arrivals are projected to reach 8.7 million visitors (up 13.7%), while domestic visitors are expected to reach 10.4 million (up 8%). Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage services, and travel services is estimated at nearly VND 70 trillion, an increase of over 15%, reaffirming tourism’s role as a spearhead economic sector and its significant contribution to the sustainable socio-economic development of Da Nang City in the coming period.
