On the morning of March 9, 2026, at the headquarters of Son Tra Ward (Da Nang City), the local authorities officially launched the visual identity of Son Tra Ward and announced a community project titled “Son Tra 102.”
The event marked not only a new milestone in shaping the ward’s image but also reflected the aspiration to develop Son Tra into a modern living space rich in cultural identity and strong community connection.
Located at the foot of the Son Tra Peninsula—where mountains, forests, and the sea converge in harmony—Son Tra Ward has long been known as an area rich in cultural and historical traditions, while also home to many of Da Nang’s distinctive landscapes.
As the city continues its journey toward a modern and civilized urban environment, establishing a unified identity system is considered an important step in affirming local character and spreading the unique values of this coastal community.
A NEW SYMBOL FOR THE COASTAL LAND
The visual identity of Son Tra Ward is designed in a minimalist and modern style, featuring a diamond-shaped layout and the letters “ST” – the abbreviation of Son Tra, representing innovation, creativity, and the ward’s vision for sustainable development.
Three wave motifs also appear in the emblem, representing the three former wards—Tho Quang, Man Thai, and Nai Hien Dong—which were merged into today’s Son Tra Ward. Together, they symbolize unity, growth, and the spirit of renewal within the local community.
The two dominant colors, blue and green, tell the story of “Father Mountain – Mother Sea,” reflecting the harmony between nature and human life. Green represents the Son Tra Peninsula, the “green lung” of Da Nang, while blue symbolizes the vast sea, hope, and the dynamic spirit of the coastal residents.
The message “A Happy Community” has been chosen as the core slogan of the identity system, expressing the vision of making Son Tra a livable place where people connect and grow together in harmony with nature.
“SON TRA 102” – A JOURNEY CONNECTING MEMORY AND HERITAGE
Along with the launch of the visual identity, Son Tra Ward also officially introduced the “Son Tra 102” Project—a cultural and community initiative aimed at researching, collecting, and promoting the distinctive values of the Son Tra area.
Sharing the meaning behind the project’s name, Mr. Hoang Son Tra, Secretary of the Party Committee and Acting Chairman of the People’s Council of Son Tra Ward, explained that the project was initially planned under the name “Son Tra 100,” with the intention of selecting 100 representative landmarks and artifacts of the locality for research and introduction.
During discussions while developing the project plan, a new idea emerged—the “101st entry,” representing each individual who lives in, experiences, and feels Son Tra. From there, the number 102 was formed as a symbol of the future of Son Tra, where the community joins hands to nurture and build a “happy community,” in line with the message of the ward’s new identity. It represents a continuous flow from the past to the present and toward the future.
The project is envisioned as a journey connecting knowledge and collective memory, aiming to systemize local landmarks, stories, artifacts, and cultural-historical imprints. Through this effort, the values of Son Tra will be preserved, widely introduced, and become a source of inspiration for education, research, and the development of culture and tourism in the years to come.
SPREADING THE IMAGE OF A FRIENDLY AND LIVABLE SON TRA
In the coming time, the visual identity of Son Tra Ward will be applied consistently across various fields—from administrative activities and urban communication to cultural-tourism products and community life.
The implementation of this identity system will not only create a more unified and professional image for the locality but also contribute to shaping Son Tra into a friendly, modern destination rich in cultural character within the broader development of Da Nang City.
