In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam’s membership in ASEAN and alignment with the objectives of the 32nd ASEAN-New Zealand Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) Dialogue and the 4th ASEAN-UK SOM Meeting, the Da Nang People’s Committee, under its esteemed direction, organized the event titled “Meeting ASEAN in Da Nang 2025” from April 9–10, 2025. This initiative was executed in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ ASEAN Department, and ASEAN diplomatic missions in Vietnam.
The gathering, a testament to the event’s inclusivity, attracted over 200 delegates from both domestic and international backgrounds. Among them were distinguished figures such as Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee; Mr. Do Hung Viet, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam; Ambassador Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to ASEAN; as well as ASEAN SOM leaders in Vietnam and Ambassadors from Thailand and the Philippines, along with the Chargé d’Affaires of Myanmar.
Central to the event was the conference “Meeting ASEAN in Da Nang: Opportunities to Strengthen Cooperation Between Da Nang and ASEAN Partners”. This conference encompassed two thematic sessions dedicated to advancing international cooperation across trade, investment, and tourism among Da Nang and its ASEAN counterparts. A significant step towards this was the signing of cooperation agreements between the Da Nang Tourism Association, the Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATA), and the Calabarzon Association of Independent Tour Operators (CAITO) from the Philippines.
Furthermore, the Da Nang People’s Committee graciously donated USD 10,000 to the Embassy of Myanmar in Vietnam to support the people of Myanmar in their recovery efforts following the earthquake that occurred on March 28.
The successful execution of “Meeting ASEAN in Da Nang 2025” resoundingly underscored Da Nang’s commitment to being a vibrant, integrative city that actively fosters connections within the region and promotes peace, stability, and sustainable development.
CIFA, as the organizing advisor, played a pivotal role in the successful execution of “Meeting ASEAN in Da Nang 2025”, contributing to the overall success of this significant event.
