Highlights of the 13th ASEAN Schools Games 2024

The 13th ASG will officially take place from May 29th to June 9th, 2024, in Da Nang. It will feature over 1,300 athletes and coaches from the sports delegations of 10 countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Athletes will compete in six sports: Swimming, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Pencak Silat, and Vovinam, with a total of 107 events.

With the slogan “Connect to shine bright,” the 13th ASG not only celebrates sporting talents but also emphasizes the connection among students from various countries in the region, fostering unity for a young generation of Southeast Asia that integrates and develops. The mascot of the 13th ASG is the red-shanked douc langur, a rare animal listed in Vietnam’s Red Book and classified by both International Union for Conservation of Nature and Vietnam as “Endangered”. Through this mascot, the 13th ASG also conveys a message of environmental protection, encourages each student and the community at large to pay attention to important planetary issues.

In addition to the competitions, the 13th ASG aims to foster exchange and integration among countries in the region through diverse experiential activities and seminars. These events are designed to discuss and promote school sports and physical development for students in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, held during the summer, which is considered the most beautiful time of the year in Da Nang, the 13th ASG promises to attract a large number of domestics, international tourists and local residents to watch and cheer. This will help promote the image of Vietnam, its people, cultural identity, and tourism to international friends
