The Ministry of Public Security will organize the Final Round of the People’s Police Sports Festival 2026 in Da Nang from 29 July to 7 August 2026.
This event carries significant political importance, serving as a meaningful activity to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the People’s Security Force Traditional Day (12 July 1946 – 12 July 2026) and towards the 81st Anniversary of the People’s Public Security Force Traditional Day (19 August 1945 – 19 August 2026). It also provides an opportunity to evaluate the quality of drill, military, martial arts and physical training, as well as the combat readiness of the People’s Public Security Force. Furthermore, the Festival highlights the strength of the force while promoting the image of People’s Public Security officers as courageous, disciplined, elite, modern, people-oriented and dedicated to serving the People.
Previously, from 21 May to 24 June 2026, the Department of Political Affairs, in coordination with provincial and municipal police departments, successfully organized the preliminary rounds of the Festival in Quang Ninh, Hue and Lam Dong. The competition attracted more than 5,800 athletes, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere of emulation throughout the force. Based on the results of the preliminary rounds, the best teams have qualified for the Final Round in Da Nang.
This year’s Final Round brings together 27 military and martial arts teams and 81 sports teams, with more than 4,700 athletes competing in shooting, obstacle course, martial arts, seven-a-side men’s football, pickleball, tactical running, Fit Police Officer, swimming, armed open-water swimming and basketball.
1. General Schedule of the Festival
- 29 July: Arrival of participating delegations; Organizing Committee meeting with delegation representatives; competition draw; familiarization with competition venues.
- From 30 July to 6 August: Competition events take place across all disciplines.
- 7 August: Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation.
2. Opening Ceremony and Competition Schedule
a) Opening Ceremony
Schedule:
- Combined rehearsal: 6:00 PM, 29 July 2026, at East Sea Park.
- Rehearsal: 7:00 PM, 30 July 2026, at East Sea Park.
- Final dress rehearsal: 8:00 PM, 31 July 2026, at East Sea Park.
- Opening Ceremony: 8:00 PM, Saturday, 1 August 2026, at East Sea Park (Vo Nguyen Giap Street, An Hai Ward, Da Nang City). The ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV8, with ANTV providing a simultaneous broadcast.
The highlight of the Opening Ceremony will be a large-scale artistic performance and force demonstration featuring more than 2,000 officers and soldiers. Performances include festival drums, the police marching band, specialized police motorcycles, the Mounted Mobile Police Unit, martial arts, qigong demonstrations, VIP protection scenarios, live target-shooting demonstrations, firefighting and rescue operations. The ceremony will conclude with a fireworks display celebrating the Final Round of the People’s Police Sports Festival.
b) Competition Events
Competition events will be held at various venues across Da Nang from 30 July to 6 August 2026. The Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation will take place on 7 August 2026. Details are as follows:
People’s Police Military and Martial Arts Events
Martial Arts
- Competition dates: 30–31 July and 2–3 August 2026
- Venue: Da Nang Sports Center (No. 02 An Trung 2 Street, An Hai Ward, Da Nang City)
Events include applied tactical scenarios, tactical exercises, synchronized demonstrations, the 38-movement martial arts routine, power-breaking techniques, and short-stick sparring.
Among these events, short-stick sparring is being introduced for the first time by the Ministry of Public Security. During the preliminary rounds, the event attracted widespread attention from officers, soldiers and the public alike. Hundreds of competition videos were shared on Facebook, TikTok and other social media platforms, generating thousands of views, comments and interactions.
Shooting
- Competition dates: 31 July – 5 August 2026
- Venue: Shooting Range, Training Center for New Recruits, Division 375 (Cam Le Ward, Da Nang City)
The competition consists of nine practical shooting exercises, including four night-time shooting events. These newly introduced disciplines are being organized for the first time by the Ministry of Public Security. Several exercises incorporate training explosive devices and smoke effects to simulate real operational conditions, increasing both the level of difficulty and psychological pressure for competitors.
Results from the preliminary rounds demonstrated that many participating units achieved outstanding performances, reflecting rigorous training, proficient firearms handling skills and the ability to respond effectively to complex operational situations.
Obstacle Course
- Competition date: 4 August 2026
- Venue: Obstacle Course, Training Center for New Recruits, Division 375 (Cam Le Ward, Da Nang City)
The obstacle course is designed to enhance the physical fitness and endurance of People’s Public Security officers and soldiers. While this discipline has been included in previous editions of the Festival, this year’s competition marks the first time that female officers and soldiers will participate.
Despite the demanding physical intensity and technical challenges of the course, the preliminary rounds demonstrated that many female competitors performed exceptionally well, showcasing remarkable strength, determination and professional competence.

Highlights of the 2026 People’s Police Sports Festival
This year’s Festival introduces several significant new features, including:
- For the first time, the Opening Ceremony is being held in the evening.
- For the first time, night-time service firearm shooting competitions are conducted with the integration of training explosive devices and smoke effects to simulate real operational conditions.
- For the first time, female officers and soldiers are competing in the obstacle course event.
- For the first time, short-stick sparring, basketball and armed open-water swimming have been included as official competition disciplines.
These newly introduced events have been designed to closely reflect the operational requirements and combat readiness of the People’s Public Security Force, contributing to more practical, professional and realistic training and competition.
The Final Round of the People’s Police Sports Festival 2026 is not only a major sporting event for the People’s Public Security Force, but also an opportunity to showcase the professionalism, discipline, courage and readiness of the force in fulfilling its mission of safeguarding national security, maintaining social order and safety, and serving the People.
