The Da Nang Department of Tourism is thrilled to announce the arrival of a family trip group from Indonesia from January 8 to 12, 2024. The group will participate in an exciting discussion program on January 10, 2024, focusing on solutions to attract Indonesian travelers and promote flight routes from Indonesia to Da Nang.

In collaboration with the Da Nang Tourism Association and the Indonesian Travel Association ASTIDO, the Da Nang Department of Tourism’s Tourism Promotion Center proudly hosts 35 ASINDO member tour operators from various cities in Indonesia.

The famtrip program, scheduled to take place from January 8-12, 2024, will allow the group to explore some of the most popular destinations in Da Nang and Central Vietnam, including Ba Na Hills, Marble Mountains, Cham Museum, and Hoi An.

Following the resounding success of the destination introduction activity in Jakarta, Indonesia in October 2023, the famtrip program is poised to provide Indonesian travelers interested in developing products in Da Nang, Vietnam, with a unique chance to survey and experience the destination.

As part of the famtrip welcoming activity, the Department of Tourism successfully organized a productive discussion on January 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The discussion topic was “Solutions for attracting Indonesian travelers and promoting a flight route from Indonesia to Da Nang”. The event was attended by distinguished representatives from the Department of Tourism, the City Tourism Association, its member associations, Da Nang International Airport, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, tourism businesses, and 35 members of the famtrip delegation.

During the seminar, the attendees provided comprehensive information about the destination, including typical products and services, service capacity, and recent achievements in Da Nang tourism development, to the Indonesian travelers. The seminar also introduced tourists to Da Nang, highlighting its unique offerings. Guest businesses gave valuable insights into the Indonesian market through a speech by Ms. Pauline Suharno, President of the ASTIDO Association. The discussion also focused on finding practical solutions to exploit flights from Indonesia, including charter and connecting flights, and promoting the opening of direct flights. Overall, it was a successful event that enabled the attendees to exchange ideas and insights for the betterment of the tourism industry.

Indonesia is an up-and-coming market with the world’s fourth-largest population and the largest population in Southeast Asia, boasting over 280 million people. According to Ms. Pauline Suharno, the President of the ASINDO Association, the aviation industry in Indonesia has bounced back after COVID-19, with over 90% recovery in international and domestic flights. Additionally, tourism demand has risen significantly, thanks to ASINDO-organized fairs that promote new destinations, organized travel programs, and luxury travel programs.

Ms. Pauline also highlighted that the Muslim tourist market from Indonesia is not too strict, and services labeled as Halal-friendly would encourage more customers to use this service. To diversify tourist source markets and focus on specific markets, such as the Muslim tourist market, Da Nang Tourism is strengthening its promotion to the Indonesian market by developing Halal services. The Da Nang International Airport has installed prayer rooms to serve Muslim passengers since the beginning of 2023, and many accommodation businesses have introduced services friendly to Muslim passengers.

Da Nang’s efforts to promote Halal services have already paid off, with over 26,000 Indonesian visitors in 2023, accounting for about 25% of the total number of Indonesian visitors to Vietnam. Based on these positive results, it is clear that Da Nang’s tourism industry is on the right track to attract even more Indonesian tourists in the future.
