In Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang, two environmental sanitation workers from the Son Tra Environmental Enterprise, a part of the Da Nang Urban Environment Company, found two wallets dropped by two American tourists on December 23, 2023. The wallets contained identification documents, bank cards, driver’s licenses, and foreign currency.
When the Da Nang Visitor Center received the incident on January 2, 2024, they quickly coordinated with Phuoc My Ward to contact the two tourists. After three days of searching, the Da Nang Visitor Center contacted the two US tourists, who had already left Da Nang City and were currently residing in a small village in Nagasaki City, Japan, until the end of January 2024.
The Da Nang Visitor Center discussed the options for returning their lost property with the two tourists. This incident is a testament to the honesty and integrity of the sanitation workers who found the wallets, as well as the efforts of the Da Nang Visitor Center to locate and return the lost property.
It’s always heartening to hear about good deeds, especially when they involve helping tourists in need. On January 5, 2024, a US tourist contacted the Da Nang Visitor Center for assistance in recovering their lost wallet, identification documents, bank cards, and driver’s licenses. Thanks to the swift response of the Da Nang Visitor Center, the lost property was delivered to the US tourists on the same day via express courier. Even the environmental sanitation worker and his wife, who found the two lost wallets, were rewarded with a thank-you gift. It’s expected that the parcel will arrive within two weeks.
The Department of Tourism of Da Nang City deserves praise for recognizing the noble actions of Mr. Nguyen Van Trung and Ms. Nguyen Thi Tach, who work at Son Tra Environmental Enterprise, a part of Da Nang Urban Environment Company. Their efforts have helped to build the image of “Da Nang – a safe, friendly tourist city”, and they were awarded Certificates of Merit and bonuses according to regulations.
It’s inspiring to learn that the Da Nang Visitor Center receives more visitors each year and effectively supports tourists in various ways. With over 42,000 visitors in 2023, the center handled more than 260 situations where tourists needed assistance, including 5,645 calls, 447 emails, and 1,261 messages via social networking applications. It’s reassuring that the Da Nang Visitor Center is always closely coordinating with relevant departments, branches, and authorities to ensure a safe and friendly experience for tourists in Da Nang City.
