TOKYO, JAPAN – June 18, 2026 – The City of Da Nang successfully organized the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Program in Tokyo under the theme “Return to Origins”, introducing the destination as a place where culture, nature, and meaningful experiences converge. The event also served as a platform to connect tourism stakeholders, travel partners, media representatives, and tourism businesses from both Japan and Da Nang.
The program welcomed more than 100 distinguished guests, including representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, tourism and travel associations, travel agencies, tourism and aviation companies, business partners, and members of the Japanese media.
A key highlight of the event was the participation of Vietnam Airlines, whose continued efforts to strengthen air connectivity between Da Nang and major Japanese cities play an important role in promoting tourism exchanges, trade cooperation, and cultural connections between the two countries in this new phase of development.

Japan remains one of Da Nang’s key international tourism markets, demonstrating stable and sustained growth. Supported by direct air connections, deep cultural ties, and a diverse range of high-quality tourism products and authentic cultural experiences, visitor arrivals from Japan have continued to grow positively over recent years.

In 2025, Da Nang welcomed 291,170 Japanese visitors, accounting for 3.8% of the city’s total international arrivals and ranking eighth among its top ten international source markets. During the first five months of 2026, Japanese arrivals reached nearly 164,317 visitors, representing 3.65% of total international arrivals, reaffirming Japan’s position as one of Da Nang’s priority tourism markets.
The expansion of direct air routes connecting Da Nang with Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, and Nagoya has further strengthened tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Japan. This growing connectivity provides a solid foundation for Da Nang to continue intensifying its tourism promotion efforts in Japan throughout 2025–2026, with the goal of enhancing the city’s visibility and competitiveness on the global tourism map.
According to emerging travel trends in Japan, travelers are increasingly seeking wellness and healing experiences, slow travel, authentic cultural encounters, nature-based journeys, extended stays, and emotionally enriching experiences that foster meaningful connections with local communities and destinations.
These trends closely align with Da Nang’s tourism development strategy in the coming years. While the city is widely recognized for its vibrant coastal attractions, luxury resorts, golf courses, and modern tourism infrastructure, Da Nang is now expanding its tourism offerings through a broader ecosystem of cultural, heritage, and nature-based experiences across Central Vietnam.

Moving forward, Da Nang’s tourism sector will continue prioritizing high-quality, sustainable tourism products that deliver meaningful cultural value. The tourism industry will further deepen and expand the “Return to Origin” communication campaign, bringing the essence of Da Nang tourism to Japanese travelers through five thematic touchpoints designed to inspire deeper and more refined travel experiences.

Through the message “Return to Origin,” Da Nang’s tourism industry seeks to move beyond conventional sightseeing and inspire journeys of deeper connection. Visitors are invited to engage all their senses and reconnect with authentic values—from the stories preserved in traditional craft villages and the richness of local cuisine to the cultural heritage, pristine nature, and meaningful encounters that define the spirit of the destination.

The Danang Tourism Promotion Center remains committed to working closely with travel companies, tourism enterprises, media organizations, and content creators both in Japan and internationally to promote Da Nang as a premier destination for Japanese travelers. Support initiatives include hosting familiarization trips (Fam Trips) and press trips, providing destination information and consultation services, facilitating logistics, streamlining administrative procedures for promotional campaigns and content production, and connecting tourism businesses with local service providers to develop unique and competitive tourism products.
The Center believes that collaboration with media organizations and the business community will play a vital role in showcasing Da Nang not only as a modern and dynamic city but also as a destination of meaningful connections—where every journey allows travelers to “touch” the most authentic and memorable values of the region.
The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Program in Tokyo serves not only as a destination marketing initiative but also as an important opportunity for Vietnamese and Japanese tourism businesses to strengthen partnerships, exchange market insights, and explore new product development opportunities. Through destination presentations, business networking sessions, and B2B meetings, Da Nang continues to reinforce its image as a friendly, safe, modern, and culturally rich destination for Japanese travelers.
Through this program, Da Nang’s tourism industry also seeks to expand cooperation with Japanese partners in specialized tourism segments, including luxury leisure travel, wellness tourism, golf tourism, MICE tourism, educational travel, and cultural tourism, while promoting two-way visitor exchanges between the two countries.
Together with expanding direct air connectivity and the support of Vietnam Airlines and tourism service providers, Da Nang is confident in achieving further growth in Japanese visitor arrivals in the coming years, contributing to sustainable tourism development and strengthening the city’s position as a leading destination in Asia.
