A Broadway classic takes the stage at the Nguyễn Hiển Dĩnh Tuồng Theater for three performances only, June 20-22, 2026

This June, Da Nang 365 brings a group of international artists to perform Lerner & Loewe’s beloved Camelot to the stage of the historic Nguyễn Hiển Dĩnh Tuồng Theater – a full Broadway musical with live singing, dance, sword combat, and theatrical staging, performed in English for three nights only, Saturday, June 20 through Monday, June 22, 2026. Large-scale English-language musical theatre is a rarity in central Vietnam, where the region’s stages are best known for traditional Vietnamese performance, making this a singular event for Da Nang’s cultural calendar.

Based on the legend of King Arthur, Camelot tells the story of an idealistic young king, his queen Guenevere, and the noble knight Lancelot – a love triangle that tests the fellowship of the Round Table and Arthur’s dream of a kingdom ruled not by force, but by law, courage, and compassion. First staged on Broadway in 1960, the musical remains the source of some of the most enduring songs in musical theatre, including “If Ever I Would Leave You” and the title number, “Camelot.”
What sets this production apart is the group of international artists behind it: performers and creatives from ten countries across five continents – Vietnam, the United States, Germany, Russia, Brazil, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Italy, India, and Tunisia – drawn together largely from Da Nang’s growing international community. At the heart of the story are King Arthur, played by Music Director René van Nguyen; Queen Guenevere, played by Julia Hausmann; and Sir Lancelot, played by Executive Producer Denis Burkatsky – two of the three leads who also steer the production behind the scenes. That versatility runs through the whole company: many of the cast and crew take on several roles at once – performing while also handling props, costumes, sales, or promotion – with paid professionals and volunteers working side by side.
Alex Castaneda, Owner of Da Nang 365 shared:
“Bringing Camelot to Da Nang is an opportunity to contribute to the city’s growing cultural landscape and to offer audiences a chance to experience a full-scale international musical theatre production, something still rarely seen in Vietnam. As Da Nang continues to establish itself as a destination for arts, culture, and international events, supported by initiatives such as DANAFF, it is important that residents and visitors have access to diverse world-class performances. We hope Camelot is just the beginning and that it inspires more collaborations with international artists, producers, and cultural organizations, helping to create a more vibrant and dynamic arts scene for Da Nang in the years ahead.”
The show is directed by Manny Sani, with choreography by Tarcísio Cunha (dance) and Jacob Lemieux (combat), and co-produced by Manny Sani, René van Nguyen, and Devendra Tak. It is presented by Da Nang 365 and DT Associates under license from Music Theatre International (MTI), funded privately, and staged with the approval and support of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
“In the final weeks before opening night, I’ve watched this cast and crew come together in a way I’ll never forget. People from ten countries, most of them balancing full-time jobs, are giving everything – late nights, relentless rehearsals, sheer determination – to bring Camelot to a Da Nang stage. They’ve worked wonders, and I couldn’t be prouder of them. I can’t wait for audiences to see what they’ve built,” said Denis Burkatsky, Executive Producer.
