Da Nang has been named the top domestic destination for Vietnamese tourists booking accommodations for the summer of 2024, according to a Booking.com survey.
According to a survey by Booking.com, Da Nang is the most searched and booked destination by Vietnamese tourists from June 15 to August 15. The other popular destinations for this summer’s vacation are Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Hoi An, Hanoi, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, Ha Long, and Quy Nhon.
Da Nang attracts domestic tourists with various appealing activities, especially the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival—DIFF 2024. From June 8 to July 13, 2024, DIFF 2024 will feature eight teams, including seven international teams and the representative team from Vietnam, Da Nang.
In addition to DIFF 2024, a series of events with diverse and attractive content will be organized on a large scale throughout Da Nang. The city’s famous tourist and entertainment spots, such as Sun World Ba Na Hills and Asia Park, will host many festivals, music, and art events during this year’s fireworks season.
To start this year’s fireworks season, the city plans to treat tourists with a Jetski & Flyboards show produced by H2O from Australia, promising to make DIFF 2024 entirely different from previous seasons.
The Booking.com survey results show that Vietnamese tourists’ summer travel trends change yearly. This year, Vietnamese tourists tend to travel to explore and recharge, with preferences for nature, local culture, beach trips, and city tours: 57% of respondents want to get back to nature, 48% choose to experience local culture, 45% select beach trips, and 36% prefer city tours.
Additionally, 46% of Vietnamese respondents said they are planning long domestic trips, and 35% want an international trip of five nights or more.
Additionally, the survey highlights apparent differences in domestic travel trends among different groups of Vietnamese tourists. While solo travelers often prefer stays in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, family groups with young children choose beaches and islands with beautiful natural scenery. Couples enjoy the quiet space of resorts.
The top five domestic destinations solo travelers choose are Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hanoi, Da Lat, and Nha Trang. The top five international destinations solo travelers choose are Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, and Paris.
The top five destinations for family groups are Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City, and internationally, Singapore, Paris, Bangkok, London, and Sydney.
The top five destinations for couples are Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Hoi An, and internationally, Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, and Kuala Lumpur.
For international travel, besides ASEAN destinations, Vietnamese tourists also want to travel further to Europe, with Bangkok, Thailand, and Singapore being the most popular choices, followed by Tokyo, Paris, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, London, Hong Kong, and Melbourne.
