Appoint the first Consulate General of the Republic of Korea to Danang
On 16th December, Department of Foreign Affairs in Danang has issued the certificate to establish the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and also the appointment of the Korean Consulate General in Da Nang.

On the morning of December 16, Mr. Huynh Duc Truong, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Da Nang congratulated Mr. Ahn Min Sik on being appointed as the first Korean Consulate General in Da Nang.
On this occasion, Mr. Huynh Duc Truong expressed his wish that the establishment of the Consulate General and the appointment of the Korean Consulate General in Danang will contribute to boost the diplomat and cooperation between the provinces in Central Vietnam as well as Danang and South Korean localities and partners.
The Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang also requested Mr. Ahn Min Sik, the new Korean Consul General in Da Nang to connect and further promote exchanges, friendship and cooperation between the parties in Central Vietnam and South Korea.
The new Korean Consul General in Da Nang Ahn Min Sik highly appreciated the economic potential of Danang. He pledged that he will fulfill his role, especially in creating opportunities for many Korean investors and tourists to explore and visit Da Nang as well as Central Vietnam during his duty period.
South Korea has asked the Vietnamese government to allow the establishment of a diplomatic representative office in Da Nang, after the Korean National Assembly passed a plan to restructure its apparatus at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 2019.
The Consulate General will be responsible for consular work in four provinces of the Central Region, including Danang City, Thua Thien – Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai Province.
It is well known that Korea is currently a major investor in Vietnam, while Vietnam is a favorite destination for visitors from the land of Kim Chi. In 2018, more than 1.8 million Korean visitors travelled Vietnam.
In particular, Danang City is currently the favorite tourist destination for Koreans. The city attracts around 1 million South Korean tourists each year, according to government statistics.
In 2018, Da Nang topped Korean vacation destinations, surpassing others like Osaka or Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), Taipei (Taiwan), according to Ticket Monster rankings – a large Korean e-commerce company.
