Project background
Community-based tourism (CBT) is a form of tourism initiated by local people to benefit the community en bloc rather than individuals. Supported by a Japanese NGO – Foundation for International Development/Relief (FIDR) – since 2001, the Cotu in Nam Giang district have been striving to improve their livelihood and to promote income utilizing traditional weaving produced by the women. Such efforts have strengthened their confidence in the value and uniqueness of their own culture and traditions, inspiring them to challenge CBT. Visitors from around the world will enjoy the treasures of the Cotu, whilst the local community will realize sustainable development.
Income from tourism activities will be shared among local people as well as serve for common benefit of the community.
