Danang, Vietnam: Experts from the fields of golf course architecture, golf club management and tourism will share their knowledge at next month’s second Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) Danang Conference.
To be staged at the Sheraton Grand Danang Resort & Convention Center in the coastal city in central Vietnam, the four-day gathering (August 28-31) will bring together leaders from the region’s golfing industry and embrace a variety of topical themes.
Held in conjunction with Danang Tourism and the BRG Group, the AGIF Danang Conference will specifically focus on sustainability in golf course design, golf course maintenance and operations, the growing role of women in golf and continued golf tourism recovery in the post-Covid era.
AGIF Vice President Adam Calver, Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, said: “The AGIF Danang Conference is a wonderful opportunity for the Asian golfing industry to meet face-to-face to discuss the challenges we are facing … and to come up with solutions that will help the industry flourish.”
In addition to individual presentations and panel sessions, Calver said extensive networking opportunities will be offered at various social functions, along with the chance to play golf at BRG Danang’s Greg Norman-sculpted course.
Following a welcome reception on the evening of August 28, day one of the conference (August 29) will place a strong emphasis on golf tourism.
On August 30, attention will turn to Sustainable Design and Development and golf club management with the Gala Dinner in the evening.
As well as presentations from Harley Kruse, Tim Lobb (Lobb + Partners) and David Dale (Golfplan) there will be a golf course architect panel discussion mediated by Nicklaus Design’s Paul Stringer.
Also taking to the podium will be Troon Golf Senior Vice President of Operations DJ Flanders, and 59 Club’s Simon Wordsworth.
Over the course of the two days there will also be updates from AGIF Board members related to the Certificate in Greenkeeping and the Federation’s partnership with the Club Management Association of America which has seen the resumption of the acclaimed Business Management Institute (BMI) programme.
On August 31, delegates will have the opportunity to sample the spectacular Greg Norman Golf Course Design’s BRG Danang layout followed by a barbecue luncheon.
Calver added: “We thank Danang Tourism and the BRG Group for their support in making this possible. The AGIF Danang Conference aims to unite the golf industry in Asia and establish itself as a ‘must attend’ event on the Asian golf industry calendar.”
The AGIF Danang Conference forms part of a week-long golfing festival in Danang that will also see BRG Da Nang Golf Resort play host to a 54-hole event on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), the Asian Tour’s feeder circuit.
