“Tien Sa” – A Musical Dance Performance captivates with its prestigious lineup of Vietnam’s finest artists and experts, including choreographer Nguyen Tan Loc, composer Duc Tri, Meritorious Artist Quang Hao, designer Cong Tri, artist Khanh Hoang, stage producer Van Tong, and over 40 talented dancers and acrobats. The performance is a non-verbal dance musical, ensuring that language is not a barrier to enjoying the show. After four months of dedicated training, the show has achieved remarkable success, passing the rigorous evaluation of the Arts Council, the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Tourism, and Da Nang city leaders, who have commended its artistic excellence and audience engagement.

This extraordinary performance carries the audience on a 60-minute journey through nine enthralling acts, seamlessly blending contemporary dance, music, acrobatics, and storytelling: Sunrise Dance; The Girl from the Clouds; The Boy from the Green Forest; Fishing Village; Sea Storm; The Silkworm; The Fragile Celestial Silk; The Weaving Frame; Predestined Love. Scriptwriter Dinh Tien Dung shared the challenges of crafting a script for a non-verbal dance performance, highlighting the need to convey a storyline solely through movement and expression. His ambition is to encapsulate the essence of Da Nang, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The “Tien Sa” production is not just a show; it is a painstakingly crafted homage to Da Nang’s cultural and artistic richness, featuring symbolic landmarks, legends, and heritage such as: Son Tra Peninsula; The Legend of Tien Sa; The Ancient Heritage Banyan Tree; The Rare Red-Shanked Douc Langur; The “thàn mát” flowers (Millettia ichthyochtona Drake); Coastal Fishing Villages; Vietnamese Ao Dai (Traditional Dress).

Each act beautifully interweaves these elements, resulting in a magnificent tribute to Da Nang’s diverse culture and history. Through stunning contemporary dance, the performance tells a touching love story between Miss Tien Canh Tim (the Purple-Winged Fairy) and Mr Sa, illustrating a powerful message about love for one’s homeland and the enchanting bond between humans and nature.

Choreographer Nguyen Tan Loc, Artistic Director of ‘Tien Sa,’ remarked on the advanced artistic and technical dedication required for this production. Blending ballet, acrobatics, and contemporary dance posed a significant challenge. Yet, the local artists of Da Nang rose to the occasion, mastering their craft and preparing to deliver an unforgettable experience. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoi An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, expressed her sentiments after reviewing the show, stating that “Tien Sa” transcends being just a dance musical; it stands as a beacon of pride for Da Nang, showcasing the city’s essence in every scene and enriching the local cultural landscape.

Meritorious Artist Nguyen Quang Hao, Director of Trung Vuong Theater and the scriptwriter of “Tien Sa,” announced that starting in February 2025, the show will be performed daily at Trung Vuong Theater, with a capacity of 700 guests per show and an anticipated annual attendance of 100,000 visitors.
