In the morning of May 5, Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has submitted the Ministry of Transport (MOT) a proposal to adjust the operation plan for domestic flights in order to address difficulties for Vietnam aviation industry.
Accordingly, Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests the MOT to deregulate physical distancing on board and permit all airlines to resume flights based on aircraft facility, starting from 0h00 on May 5th, 2020.
However, the Authority believes there should still keep physical distancing order of 1 meter for passengers at check-in counters, scanning and queuing to board. Other rules of safety and COVID-19 precautions should remain unchanged.
Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also suggests the MOT to modify the period to implement the regulations on frequency allocation of domestic routes. Specifically, from 0h00 on May 5, the total frequency of the route Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City should be 52 flights (roundtrip)/day while the figure for the route Hanoi – Da Nang will go up to 20 flights (roundtrip)/day. Other flight paths will depend on the need of airlines.
