According to a plan by the Da Nang People’s Committee for promoting the development of the city’s tourism sector over the 2016 – 2020 period, top priority will be given to making this sector one of the local spearhead economic sectors, with a focus on luxury marine tourism.

In addition, special attention will be paid to increasing the quality and professionalism of tourism services in the city, and creating more attractive and highly competitive tourism products.

Three main groups of tourism products will be developed: marine and luxury holiday tourism, shopping and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism, and cultural, historical and eco-tourism. Importance will be attached to making Da Nang a holiday paradise and a safer and more friendly destination for both domestic and foreign visitors. One emphasis will be on promoting regional links with Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces, and with other localities nationwide.

Da Nang is aiming to welcome 8 million visitors per year by 2020, from both home and abroad, which requires an annual average growth of 12.6% over the 2016 – 2020 period.

In order to fulfil the above targets, greater efforts will be made to develop the city’s key tourism products such as marine tourism combined with holidays and international standard beach sports. A focus will be on diversifying the tourism products, dealing with the shortage of night-time entertainment activities in the city, and ensuring a safe tourism environment in a rapid and sustainable manner. More effective measures will be made to train high-quality human resources for the local tourism sector and to better advertise the city’s image in large international markets.
