On New Year’s Eve of the 2026 Gregorian New Year, Hoi An Ancient Town became lively with a wide range of cultural and entertainment activities, leaving a strong impression on local residents and visitors.
In the Hoi An Ancient Town area, visitors strolled through the streets, enjoyed the festive atmosphere of New Year’s Eve, and captured beautiful moments during the transition from the old year to the new one.
Many visitors chose to enjoy beer and local cuisine at riverside bars and lounges along the Hoai River. Meanwhile, others took part in traditional cultural activities such as bai choi singing and lantern boat cruises. These activities took place simultaneously, meeting the diverse needs of residents and visitors during the New Year celebrations.
On this New Year’s Eve, Hoi An hosted the gala program “Hoi An Welcomes the New Year 2026” in an open-air setting at the An Hoi Sculpture Garden. The program combined traditional and contemporary music performances, offering diverse experiences for visitors.
Visitor Maria Teresa (Italy) shared her excitement about the vibrant New Year atmosphere in Hoi An, noting that the wide range of activities made it convenient for visitors to participate.
Meanwhile, visitor Kamila (Poland) said her family chose Hoi An as their destination for the year-end holiday. She expressed her impression of the beauty of the ancient town and the lively New Year atmosphere, where timeless charm blends with modern entertainment activities.
Alongside the main program, the ancient town continued to maintain familiar activities such as lantern floating on the Hoai River, traditional art performances, and the arrangement of lantern-lit check-in spaces and Tet-themed displays along the old streets. Organizational work was carried out in a coordinated manner, ensuring security, public order, environmental hygiene, and leaving a lasting impression on visitors.
Notably, Hoi An Ward organized a low-altitude fireworks display on New Year’s Eve, creating a highlight for the New Year celebration program. The brilliant fireworks marked the end of the old year, carrying hopes and aspirations for a peaceful and favorable new year.
