Have you ever welcomed Lunar New Year in a different way — by stepping away from the city and returning to Da Nang’s traditional craft villages?
If Tet marks the beginning of new journeys, then spending the first days of the year in these living heritage villages is a meaningful way to begin — with emotion, culture, and deeply authentic experiences.

From February 14, 2026 to December 31, 2026, the program “Touching Heritage – Where Craft Villages Tell Their Stories” will run throughout the year in four phases, inviting visitors to reconnect with Da Nang’s living craft villages. Rather than approaching them as sightseeing stops, the program opens up storytelling spaces where history, customs, and collective memory are preserved through everyday life.
Visitors can join flexible experiential tours, meet artisans in person, try traditional techniques, and listen to the stories behind each handcrafted product. Complementing this is the Da Nang Heritage Craft Village Experience Map, available in both print and digital formats, allowing travelers to explore proactively and personalize their journey — fully embracing the spirit of experience-centered travel.
Touching Heritage at the Start of Spring – When Craft Villages Welcome a New Season
If Tet is a time to begin again, then returning to craft villages in the early days of the year offers a deeper, more intimate way to celebrate spring.
Leaving behind the familiar rhythm of urban life, visitors enter spaces where culture unfolds naturally — through the steady movements of artisans’ hands, through the sound of tools at work, and through the warm yet industrious atmosphere of a new year just beginning. Here, stories of land, craft, and past Tet seasons are not displayed on information boards but live within daily gestures, quiet concentration, and community routines.

The boundary between observer and maker gradually fades. Visitors can stand close, watch carefully, try their hands at traditional processes, listen, and truly feel. Each village carries its own rhythm: some resonate with the steady sounds of stone and wood; others come alive with the green of fields, the scent of fresh soil, or the salty breeze of early-year seas.

Finding a New Year Rhythm at Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village
If you wish to begin the year at a slower pace, visit Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village in Ngu Hanh Son Ward. In the early days of spring, the rhythmic sound of chisels striking stone feels like a gentle awakening, marking the start of a new working season after days of family reunion.
Half-finished carvings, cool stone surfaces, and the quiet focus of artisans create a distinctive space where craftsmanship intertwines with spirituality and community life.

For visitors, this offers a different way to experience spring — listening to Tet through the sound of stone, sensing it through stillness, and stepping into a contemplative slice of the season within dynamic, ever-evolving Da Nang.
Visiting Kim Bong During Early Spring Festivities
At Kim Bong Carpentry Village in Hoi An Ward, the post-Tet period is when the village “awakens” with its first cultural rhythms of the year. The sounds of saws and chisels return, workshops reopen, and intricate carvings gradually take shape.

A highlight of the early year is the Kim Bong Ancestral Worship Ceremony and the Kim Bong Traditional Craft Village Festival – Hoi An 2026, taking place on February 27–28, 2026. More than a commemoration of founding masters, the festival is a vibrant cultural space honoring carpenters’ craftsmanship, showcasing traditional techniques, and presenting wood artistry to visitors.

During this time, you do not simply observe a functioning craft village; you step into a living cultural environment where carpentry is intertwined with village memory, generational continuity, and the unmistakable spirit of a new beginning.
Welcoming a Green Spring at Tra Que Vegetable Village
For those seeking a fresh and nature-connected spring, Tra Que Vegetable Village in Hoi An Tay Ward is a refreshing stop. Lush green fields, the gentle rhythm of morning watering, and peaceful agricultural life create a vibrant yet tranquil early-year atmosphere.

After Tet, the village becomes lively with traditional agricultural festivals, including the Tra Que Cau Bong Festival on February 23, 2026. The festival reenacts rituals praying for favorable weather, fertile crops, and a peaceful year ahead.
Visitors can join farming activities, explore local cuisine, and participate in community life — experiencing Tet in a natural way, through soil, plants, and a lifestyle deeply rooted in harmony with nature.
Early Spring Ceramics at Thanh Ha
At Thanh Ha Pottery Village in Hoi An Tay Ward, the beginning of the year sees kilns glowing red once more. Newly fired ceramics carry the imprint of artisans’ hands and the creative spirit of a fresh start.

Hands-on workshops and craft demonstrations after Tet allow visitors to understand how a village preserves its identity while renewing itself within contemporary life — where tradition and innovation coexist in an open cultural space.

Original Craft Villages Between Sea and Mountains
In fish sauce villages such as Nam O in Hai Van Ward and Cua Khe in Duy Nghia Commune, the start of the year marks the fermenting season, opening a distinct livelihood rhythm for coastal communities. This is a truly Da Nang moment — where the sea, traditional craft, and local life are inseparable.
In Co Tu brocade weaving communities, Tet unfolds through vibrant patterns, the steady rhythm of looms, and communal gathering spaces. Each textile tells a story — a New Year wish woven with time, cultural memory, and the enduring hands of mountain women.

A Multi-Colored New Year Journey – Where Will You Begin?
Beyond these highlights, the “Touching Heritage” journey extends to many other cultural spaces: Thanh Dong Organic Village, Cam Thanh Coconut Village, Cam Ha Kumquat Village, Hoi An Lantern Village, Thu Bon Riverside Fishing Villages, Tam Tien Fishing Village, Triem Tay Countryside Village, and more. Each is a fragment of Quang land and people — where heritage is not displayed, but lived every day.
Traveling through craft villages during Tet means witnessing authentic rhythms of life: crafts continue, ceremonies unfold, and community life carries on naturally. Visitors need not rush to see everything; instead, they can choose to pause where their emotions resonate most.
An early spring journey in Da Nang is therefore more than exploration. It is a journey into cultural depth — where each craft village offers its own way of beginning the year: close enough to feel, and profound enough to linger in memory.
