DA NANG TOURISM PROMOTION CAMPAIGN IN AHMEDABAD, INDIA 2024: EXPERIENCE DA NANG DIVERSITY WITH VIETJET AIR DIRECT FLIGHT

The Da Nang Department of Tourism, in partnership with Vietjet Air, is pleased to announce the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Campaign in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, scheduled for February 17, 2025. This initiative aims to strengthen tourism collaboration between Da Nang and Ahmedabad by introducing Vietjet Air’s direct flight service while promoting the journey-themed “Experience Da Nang Diversity” for discerning Indian travelers, offering unique experiences that are sure to intrigue and excite.
The event will be graced by the presence of the Consul General of Vietnam in India, esteemed representatives from prominent Indian tourism associations—including TAAI, TAFI, OTOAI, and GTAA—alongside an audience of over 100 distinguished guests from tourism enterprises in Ahmedabad and Gujarat. We are honored to welcome Miss Universe India 2024, Rhea Singha, who will also participate in the festivities.
The program will feature a well-curated lineup of activities, including a business networking forum where industry professionals can connect and collaborate, a screening of a compelling promotional film showcasing Da Nang’s tourism offerings, and an introduction to the new direct flight service between Ahmedabad and Da Nang. Attendees will also learn more about the diverse range of tourism products and services available in Da Nang and across Vietnam. Furthermore, a delegation of 21 tourism businesses from Da Nang and Vietnam will present newly tailored travel products explicitly designed for the preferences of Indian visitors, enhancing the spirit of “Experience Da Nang Diversity.” A cultural highlight will include a showcase of traditional Ao Dai attire, presented by Miss Universe India 2024.
The theme “Experience Da Nang Diversity” embodies Da Nang’s commitment to a dynamic tourism strategy, focused on diversifying its offerings to enrich visitors’ experiences. Recognizing India as a promising market, the Da Nang tourism sector is dedicated to understanding and responding to the preferences and travel behaviors of Indian tourists, intending to make Da Nang an increasingly inviting and attractive destination. Since 2022, India has ranked among the top five international tourism markets for Da Nang, with one in every two Indian tourists visiting Vietnam choosing Da Nang as their prime destination. This is evidenced by remarks from Ms. Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Danang Tourism Promotion Center, the esteemed agency entrusted with promoting the destination.
Ms. Lan elaborated that, in light of Indian travelers’ preferences and ongoing engagement in the market, Da Nang has refined its service packages and unique offerings for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and wedding tourism. These enhancements aim to ensure convenience and satisfaction for all visitors, providing a reassurance and comfort for your travel plans.
In 2024, Da Nang welcomed over 222,000 Indian visitors, representing 5.3% of the city’s international arrivals and nearly 50% of all Indian tourists to Vietnam (501,427 total). Notably, compared to 2019—the peak of pre-pandemic tourism—the number of Indian visitors to Da Nang has increased by more than 13.5 times, a testament to the destination’s growing popularity among Indian travelers.
Currently, Vietjet Air is the sole airline operating direct flights between Da Nang and Ahmedabad, offering a service frequency of two weekly flights. This significant development has dramatically enriched the travel options for Indian tourists from Gujarat, providing a convenient and direct connection to the diverse and vibrant city of Da Nang. Since the launch of this service in October 2024, there have been 75 flights on the Da Nang-Ahmedabad route, serving over 8,600 passengers and opening up a new and exciting travel opportunity for Indian tourists.
