The September 2 National Day holiday is one of the notable extended breaks of 2026, giving travelers an opportunity to plan relaxing getaways and explore destinations at home or abroad.
According to Booking.com, Vietnamese travelers’ searches for the holiday span domestic coastal cities, nearby destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, and longer-haul journeys. Notably, Da Nang ranks first among the 10 most-searched domestic destinations.
Da Nang leads domestic destination searches
According to Booking.com, beaches and mountains are among the standout travel preferences shaping domestic tourism trends for this year’s National Day holiday.
Among the Top 10 most-searched domestic destinations, as many as seven are associated with coastal tourism, including Da Nang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, Hoi An, Hue, and Quy Nhon. Booking.com also reports that 57% of Vietnamese travelers plan to head to the beach, while 46% are looking to reconnect with nature and mountainous landscapes.

In this ranking, Da Nang takes the No. 1 position, followed by Da Lat, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Vung Tau, Hoi An, Phu Quoc, Hue, and Quy Nhon.
Topping the search rankings shows that Da Nang continues to attract strong interest from the domestic travel market during the National Day holiday. At the same time, the result reflects the continued appeal of coastal destinations among Vietnamese travelers, particularly for extended holidays that offer opportunities for relaxation, leisure, and exploration.

From mass tourism to more personalized journeys
Booking.com notes that traditional mass tourism is gradually giving way to more personalized and meaningful travel experiences. Travelers’ interests are becoming increasingly diverse, ranging from domestic coastal cities and familiar short-haul destinations across the Asia-Pacific region to longer journeys to well-known international destinations.
Travelers are also becoming more intentional and thorough in planning their trips, placing greater emphasis on destinations that can deliver the experiences they are looking for.
For Da Nang tourism, this trend is particularly noteworthy, as the city is not only among the coastal destinations attracting strong interest but also tops Booking.com’s domestic search rankings for this year’s National Day holiday.
According to Branavan Aruljothi, Country Manager of Booking.com Vietnam, today’s travelers are becoming increasingly intentional in how they plan their trips and are seeking journeys that reflect their individual preferences and deliver the experiences they want.

Short-haul international travel remains popular
Beyond domestic destinations, the extended holiday also gives Vietnamese travelers more opportunities to consider international trips.
According to Booking.com, 88% of Vietnamese travelers consider ease of transportation and accessibility important factors when choosing a destination. As a result, well-connected cities across the region continue to dominate the list of the most-searched international destinations.
Bangkok tops the international search rankings, followed by Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Sydney. The top five positions are all occupied by Asian destinations, highlighting the appeal of relatively close and convenient international journeys for Vietnamese travelers.
Meanwhile, Paris at No. 7 and Sydney at No. 10 suggest that some travelers are also taking advantage of the extended holiday to embark on longer-haul journeys.
Da Nang continues to strengthen its appeal during the National Day holiday
Da Nang’s position at the top of the most-searched domestic destination rankings comes at a time when travelers’ needs are becoming increasingly diverse, shaped by individual interests and preferred experiences.

From a growing preference for beaches and nature to the desire for journeys tailored to individual needs, Booking.com’s search data provides a positive indication of Da Nang’s appeal in the domestic travel market for the 2026 National Day holiday.
