At 12:45 PM on July 1, 2025, flight PR585 operated by Philippine Airlines successfully touched down at Da Nang International Airport, carrying 193 passengers on its historic inaugural journey to the city. This momentous occasion not only marks the official introduction of the airline’s direct route connecting Manila and Da Nang but also signifies a new chapter in the relationship between the two cities.
Starting July 1, 2025, this new service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with plans to expand to four flights per week beginning in November 2025. The route will utilize the Airbus A321 aircraft, featuring 199 seats, including 12 designated for business class.
A formal welcoming ceremony was graciously organized at the International Arrivals Terminal of Da Nang International Airport, attended by esteemed representatives from the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Central Airport Authority, Da Nang Immigration Police, Da Nang International Airport, the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, as well as Philippine Airlines and various media outlets.
The celebration featured a range of festive activities, including a water cannon salute, traditional Vietnamese art performances, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the presentation of flowers and souvenirs to passengers, culminating in commemorative photo sessions.
At the International Departures Terminal, Philippine Airlines, in collaboration with Vietnam Airport Ground Services JSC (VIAGS), organized a heartwarming welcome ceremony for the first passengers boarding flight PR586 from Da Nang to Manila, which departed at 1:35 PM. The gesture of presenting gifts to these passengers was a testament to the warm hospitality that awaits them in the Philippines.
“The launch of Philippine Airlines’ direct flight to Da Nang aligns perfectly with the first operational day of the city’s reorganization, encompassing an expanded geographic area and a diverse tourism product ecosystem,” remarked Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The introduction of Philippine Airlines’ flights elevates the total number of weekly flights between Manila and Da Nang to 12, significantly fostering mutual tourism exchanges between our two cities.”

According to data from the General Statistics Office, Da Nang welcomed over 65,000 Filipino visitors in 2024. In the first five months of 2025 alone, this number surpassed 49,000, reflecting a commendable 2.26-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024.
